Life after the Lottery Ch. 73

"We have to have that shot of Ms. Williams for our magazine!" One yelled.

"When will you have it!" Another yelled.

I stood there as they all crowded around me.

Bob stood next to me.

"It will be available by noon tomorrow," Bob said.

"Perfect!" Several yelled.

"Will it be at the media table at noon?" One asked.

"It will be ready," Bob said.

They all turned and ran off.

"James, give me that roll of film. I'll call and get someone in the lab and have it processed and printed tonight."

"You better make a lot of prints," I said.

I took the film out of the camera, and Bob took it and left.

I picked up my 35mm and walked into the crowd, and took photos. After a bit, everyone was making their way to the bar at the back of the room. I walked around and took plenty of photos.

"You did get a shot of her?" I heard Dawn ask.

I turned, and she and the girls were standing there back in their black gowns.

"Oh, yes."

"What was all the yelling about?" Amy asked.

"The press. They wanted to know when the photo of her would be ready. Bob is taking it to the lab so we can have prints by noon tomorrow."

"I bet that makes all the magazine covers!" Dawn exclaimed.

Linda came out later in her long white dress, and everyone applauded. I was taking photos as she grabbed a glass of champagne and toasted everyone.

The press surrounded her and asked questions for a while. Several of them came over to ask me about the photo again.

By 12:30, everyone had cleared out but the cleanup crew and a few other people. Our parents were still there with Amelia.

"I guess we can head home," Dawn said.

The nine of us headed out.

It had gotten colder when we left, but it felt good after being inside.
