Enjoyed this, and hope you keep writing! But the beginning (landlord takes “payment”) and the end (interspecies mates/romance) belong to different stories IMO. If he really wanted her all that time, why wait until her rent was overdue to show it? How does taking sex for rent prove his worth as a mate?
