"Yes. As long as designs are not too complicated." Replies Lauren.

"No, simple designs. All specifications are in the CAD files. I will email them to you today. Let me know the cost and if there is a problem. I think you will understand when you see the diagrams. You can get me at this number. Many thanks, Lauren, bye." Then she hangs up.

Three weeks later, mid-morning, Caroline's phone rings while she is in the shower, John answers it.

"Hello?"

"Oh...hi John," comes a voice down the line. John recognises the female voice, "is that you, Lauren?"

"Yes, John, I was expecting Caroline to answer."

"She is in the shower. Can I do anything for you?"

"Yes, can you take a message and tell her the items are in the post?"

"Ok!"

"Sorry John, I have to go, bye." Hanging up. 'What's that all about, he wonders'?

When Caroline exits the bathroom, John explains her mobile phone was ringing, so he answered it. "Lauren called and said, 'the items are in the post!' Does that make sense to you?"

"Yes, darling, and you will find out, all in good time, my love." Came her reply.

Two weeks later, on the eve of the sixth month anniversary of our reuniting. We share a kiss while sitting on a bench outside the cottage, with mugs of hot chocolate. Well rugged up, overlooking the North Atlantic Ocean. Watching the Otters play amongst the tall kelp forests.

Caroline whispers, "I could not be happier being here with you. I love you so very much, my darling."

Kissing her on the cheek, John replies, "the same goes for me, Caroline."

Pausing, he goes on to say, "I was just thinking, this scene below us reminds me of the movie 'Ring of Bright Water'."

Caroline removes a small square cardboard box from her coat pocket. Turning to John, she removes the lid, offering a view of its contents. Inside are two highly polished metal rings. She takes one out, slipping it half onto John's fourth finger of the left hand.

Saying, "while tungsten is the strongest natural metal, Titanium, has the highest tensile strength of all."

"Will you marry me again?"

THE END

I can't say I enjoyed this at all. None of the emotions or reactions had any weight to them at all. They were ungrounded in reality, and thus the story felt off all the way through. Plus, how much pain do you feel needs to be heaped upon John? 1*

Jesus. I had read this without having read the original until tonight, and let me tell you, it is an odd world coming from the back end of things.

I look at this now with some kind of odd feeling, somewhere between respect and disdain, which they apparently have some overlap no matter how opposite they are.

Why the hell would you have this go this way I wonder.

Don't think this was in keeping with the original stories at all. Previously, Lauren showed no interest in Daniel. When John discovers Lauren and Daniel, he just watches? Would think the anger and rage of experiencing betrayal a second time would be much more overwhelming; kind of expected him to use the wine bottle to wack Daniel upside the head. After the short confrontation, everyone just walks away? The divorce is just a passing reference. Just too many inconsistencies for me. John should have gone searching for Siobhan.

Cute.

Reasonable take on originals, though not as thoroughly worked out. It all seems a little sketchy/outline-ish. Also, I think John’s response to Caroline’s cheating is a little weak. There would have...

This was all written long ago so what does this matter.

A weak 4-stars (maybe 3.5-stars).

A 2. Some okay ideas but just how meek and accepting John is doesn't work I think. I love reconciliation stories but like in the original Caroline didn't earn it. I might have not minded the reconciliation ending if the road to get there didn't feel so forced, Lauren cheated on a man she claimed to love who she knew no doubt knew had nearly died over previous cheating. John just accepting it, even being friends later despite the first time he was cheating on he was ready to die. If Lauren and John had just drifted apart and had an amicable break-up I think the story would have flowed better, their age difference or whatever was too much and so they decided to release each other. She goes for Daniel but not by cheating and he winds up back with Caroline after she realizes she screwed up twice.

Well written story just when you are building of someone else's work it needs to mesh with the previous work, this does not. This feels like a story with characters in the similar situation and the same names but wildly different characters.

About Sequels

"There's a real danger in doing a sequel. There are some benefits, but that all hinges on how well you execute. Quite frankly, most sequels don't execute well."

"I'll wager that the BTBAAC Cabal would even condemn the Virgin Mary for her first pregnancy!"

.

depends on what kind of Christians they are

first off she got pregnant before an arranged marriage, hardly cheating

.

however some Christian sects believe that the reason she is called the Virgin Mary is because she remained a virgin til the day she died - so they probably would for denying her husband for decades
