~Chapter 4

~Eliza

The midday sun blazed in the clear afternoon sky as Eliza strode down a muddy hill, Lisa in tow and the town of Hamel-shire an hour behind them. It had taken nearly an hour and a half for them to get their belongings in order with the bar maiden breaking down at least twice more during the entire affair.

Thankfully, she hadn't gone into another crying fit when they left what remained of her home.

No small part in thanks to Eliza's quick thinking or at least that's what she told herself as they meandered their way down the hill. What she was going to do with nearly 400 fully formed skeletons stored in her familiar's inventory was another problem entirely, however it was one for another time. Maybe, she could...

"We should bury them," Lisa chimed in, her voice still horse and timid, and her eyes red and puffy.

Eliza quirked an eyebrow.

"The people I mean," the bar maiden amended, clutching at the crude pack slung over her shoulders," I mean... they were..."

Eliza nodded. It was a better idea than the nothing she had bouncing about in her head. How the girl expected a grave big enough for her people though...

"We should tell someone about what happened," the girl added," there are more goblins in the forest," she continued," I don't know how or what that," she shuddered," but they have to pay."

Eliza cringed internally as her eyes darted quickly to her passively floating familiar.

"All... my fa..." Another shudder," every... Jeremy," tears started to well in her eyes," all because of..."

Eliza gulped. Maybe it would be a good idea to just leave the girl in the next hamlet they came too, or...

She shook her head at that particular thought and said," it's going to be alright."

Another shudder ran through the bar maiden as she sniffled before exhaling a quivering breath," thanks..."

Eliza nodded. This was becoming more complicated than she ever wanted. She should just tell the girl, that she'd pretty much wiped out her family and friends in a blink of an eye. Cocking her head back, she saw Lisa give her a small smile as she wiped away the tears from her eyes.

Eliza sighed, turning back around.

"Maybe later..."

~Gertrude

Pain, agony, screams, and the flash of silvered steel. Blood sprayed, bodies fell, orbs of light brought hell with them, and in the middle of it all was a woman. Tall, slender, silver-haired, and golden-eyed.

The woman turned, her eyes flashed, she swung, and Gertrude woke screaming.

Her heart thundered, sweat beaded her brow, and her breaths came in shallow wheezes. The taste of bile tinged her tongue and the smell of urine tickled her nose.

She inhaled, letting the cool air of her room fill her scalding lungs.

"It was just a dream," she muttered to herself," just a dream, just a dream."

A shudder followed by a deep exhalation as she slumped into her bed. It had been years since she'd had the pleasure of her nightmares, but like a wart, they'd reared their ugly head once again in the past two days.

It wasn't enough that her body was a mess of still healing burns and that she'd miscarried, but...

She gritted her teeth, fisted her hands, feeling her blackened nails dig into the tender skin of her palm before letting out her frustrations in another breath. There was a job to do and there would be time enough for ruminations later.

With, an annoyed breath she slid out of bed.

The ground felt cold, prickly, and unwelcoming as she plodded through the cavernous hallways of the keep. Her entire body ached from the still peeling surface of her skin to the beds of her bones. Her entire body was a mess, but she'd heal in time. It wouldn't be pretty, but beauty meant nothing in the face of power, and she would have her power. She'd lost and paid too much for it to just move on.

It would take time, but she would make it work.

Hobbling into the dank confines of her personal kitchen she inhaled, filling her lungs with the salty musk of the row upon row of salted meats hanging on the room's ceiling. It stung the raw nerves of her nostrils, but it smelled excellent and she was hungry.

Slumping into the tattered ruins of her plush dining chair she flicked a ringed finger, triggering one of the few spells she'd ever mastered, severing one of the hanging meats off their strings.

With a hefty thunk it landed before her.

A grumble and her mouth salivated as she looked upon the preserved hunk of a cow's thigh.

Another grumble ran through her body, she licked her lips, and dove in.

Food first, there was much work to be done.

~Lisa

The sun just began to dip down the horizon when They reached a clearing in the outlying forest. It had been just over two days since they'd left Hamel-shire and her life had been irrevocably changed. She still felt raw on the inside, her sorrow gnawing at her in every waking moment like a starving dog. She'd lost everything in a single night and had no chance of changing it even if she wanted to. There were so many things left undone. So, many things that would forever remain unsaid.

She shuddered, feeling tears well up in her eyes again.

She inhaled, sniffling away the tears again as she saw Eliza look at her from over her shoulder as she set up their sleeping bags.

Even though she'd grown up in a small village on the outskirts of the kingdom, she had no experience with the outside and preferred the comforts of her father's tavern and of...

Another shudder and it felt like the dam was about to burst again. No, she couldn't do it again.

There's always a silver lining, her father used to say. She could make it through all of this. She could make a future for herself. She could...

Another shudder. She needed a distraction; she needed a break.

"I think I saw a stream just a few yards from here," she said through another sniffle," I need to..."

Eliza nodded," just go, I can finish setting up," she said with a smile.

Lisa nodded, smiled, and slipped between the trees.

The ground underneath her feet was soft, the nighttime animals stirred, filling the evening sky with their sounds along with the gentle flow of water.

The stream sat nestled between moss-covered rocks,, earth, and towering trees. She'd only managed to spot the location by chance, and it was just what she needed. The water was clear and glistened like a pristine gem. It was beautiful and just the place to help wash away the hurt in her core if only for a little while.

Besides, she did also need a bath, she thought sniffing herself. Two days of walking and no bath, she smelled worse than Randy Half-hoot during the summer festival.

The thought brought a smile to her face. The bald farmer always smelled worse than the horse he rode in on, when he wasn't busy complaining about the weather.

She chuckled, feeling something other than pain and stripped-off her ragged clothes. Her skin was starting to peel and the flesh underneath it still felt tender, but it was far better than when...

Another shudder and she shook her head. She came to bathe not to dwell on that day, she told herself as she approached the gently flowing stream.

A pleasured sigh escaped her lips as she tested the waters. It felt cool and pleasant to the touch, almost like a gentle caress.

It was just what she needed.

She stepped in, luxuriating in the gently lapping knee-deep water as she started to bathe. She cupped the water, drenching herself with its cool touch before kneeling into the stream and washing her entire body.

She smiled closing her eyes to the world and her pain if only for a moment as she settled into the stream. It was bliss and she could have stayed there forever, listening to the gently lapping waters and the chirps of evening critters.

She sighed, the breath half-way out of her mouth, when something cold and slimy brushed against her bum.

Her eyes shot open, she looked down, and let out a relieved breath seeing what it was.

An eel the width of a finger slid past her legs.

She watched the inky black creature slither past her ankles, seeing its slender body undulate.

It was longer than she'd have thought.

it was then that she saw another eel slide next to the first and felt another bump against her other butt-cheek. Turning her head to the side, she found at least half a dozen more slithering past her. It was then that realization dawned.

She gasped, feeling one of the slimy things slither between her legs, sending a cold shiver up her spine.

She bolted, but it was already too late.

In an instant, her leg was wrapped, and she was yanked into the air screaming.

She was bound tightly a moment later with the oily scent of fish and brine flooding her nostrils as her entire body was slathered in the creature's viscous fluids. She thrashed, bucking at her restrains as more tentacles slithered their way across her tender flesh, bombarding her senses with a mixture of dread, tingling pain, and electrifying pleasure.

A pair of the slick appendages encircled her ample breasts, eliciting a pained whine from between her lips. They bound her tits in ever constricting circles before engulfing her engorged teats between whisker-lined tips.

Agony and bliss roiled through her bosom as they raced into her mind causing her to cry out in joy. For it to redouble in on itself as her quim and bum were suddenly plundered.

~Eliza

A scream ripped through the air and Eliza bolted, sword in hand and familiar in tow. She'd gone through enough shit to not have her sword with her at all times now.

She broke through the trees surrounding the clearing and was shocked frozen at what she saw.

Lisa was held aloft, her entire body wrapped in coil upon coil of writhing black tentacles. They held her arms to her sides, cupped her ample bosom, slithered across her flesh, and coated her in a viscous clear fluid. The bar maiden moaned in pleasure with each undulation of the wriggling appendages as the heavy scent of brine and fish attempted to suffocate the air about them.

A sudden scream tore Eliza back to reality as she took in the rest of the sight and rushed ahead. Lisa was entrapped in the coils of a vine-lasher and from how the tentacles bulged and undulated with egg-sized bulbs in its limbs it was only a matter of time before...

Eliza shook her head. There was no time for that now. She had to free the girl and hopefully kill the creature. If for nothing else but the fact that the monster's parts were worth quite a bit to alchemists in the capital, and with the expenditure of her mana crystal in order to save her ass...

Lisa shrieked, the mass of black tentacles bulged, and a barrage of tentacles shot forth. They barreled towards Eliza, their forms slick and glistening in the fading light.

Instincts took over.

Eliza dodged, letting the branch-sized tentacles slip past her. They slammed heavily into the moss-covered ground, kicking up clumps of earth as Eliza leaped.

Adrenaline flooded her veins, her heart raced, and she swung.

A blood-curdling screech erupted from the writhing mass.

Azure ichor sprayed, Eliza landed deftly, and Lisa fell still wrapped but free from the vine-lasher.

Another shriek, more tentacles launched, aimed directly at Eliza. She whirled, swinging upwards and severing through the charging limbs before she dove at the monstrosity. Her mind was clear, filled with nothing but the years of training the crone had put her through. If only it had come through when she faced the goblins, she thought, slicing into the vine-lasher's side.

Steel bit into oily flesh, spraying her in more of the creature's ichor as it shrieked, bulged obscenely, and exploded, followed by the sound of a wet plop, a heartbeat later.

"Well, shit," Eliza muttered, feeling the battle-high leave her just as suddenly as it had come. It left her empty and panting. Sure, she'd been trained to wield a sword along with her letters and mathematics but like most things she'd been taught she was barely above adequate. And, here she was charging a creature that would have taken at least three actually trained slayers to take down without a single thought. She wasn't that good, no matter what the current evidence told her.

She exhaled, hearing chunks of lasher flesh plop noisily into the stream and feeling the creature's cold and slimy viscera and fluids droop and cling to her body. She really needed to talk to the hag when she got back home.

Another sound caught her ears and she turned to face Lisa wiggling like a caught fish in her tentacular embrace with her familiar floating above the bar maiden.

Eliza snorted and plodded over.

~Lisa

Her body burned, her loins squelched, and Lisa's lust hungered like never before. She bucked, grazing her engorged teats against the still wriggling tentacles encircling them as the bulbous appendage stuffed into her sodden quim pulsed rhythmically.

She wanted...

A slice, a sudden yank, and she gasped, filling her lungs with something other than the overwhelming scent of fish and lust.

Her mind slowly cleared and once again she found herself looking up at the freckled adventurer's face. Even dripping with the remains of the thing that'd grabbed her, Eliza was something else.

"Are you..." Eliza started, only to be silenced by a hug and Lisa's words.

"Thank you."

~Eliza

The capital like always, stood imposing, bustling, and crowded beyond anything else. Buildings of every style and material lined the cobblestone and mud-packed streets that meandered through the labyrinthine passageways of the city. It was overwhelming and like always it caused Eliza's nose to wrinkle.

It was true, she'd lived in the capital most of her life, but even that couldn't make one immune to the stench of hundreds of thousands of people, animals, and waste crammed into one place. Hopefully, Lisa hadn't passed out or something, she thought, turning to look for the tavern girl.

Eliza shook her head, a smile on her face.

Lisa was gawking at everything, her face split into the giddy expression of a child at winter's fest.

Eliza smirked; the girl was acting like a country bumkin with her awestruck expressions. She was probably going to get robbed if she kept it up.

Shaking her head, Eliza strode up to her and guided the both of them through the crowd. It was good to see another expression on the girl's face besides sorrow and pain, even though it had only been close to a week since her life had been tossed upside down.

It took about another hour or so of meandering and people jostling but eventually they stood in front of the gates. It was wrought of gold, silver, and iron forged into swirling patterns and brimming with more magic than Eliza thought was necessary, for whatever good that made. And, in the distance and seated firmly on the expansive plot of land she'd grown up on sat the multi-tiered mansion that had once been her home. Towering well-groomed trees line a marble pathway that led to the nearly 100room mansion with its endless secrets and passageways. A gold veined fountain carved into the likeness of the old hag and her primary familiars sat in the middle of the pathway spraying glittering water needlessly into the afternoon sky.

It was a sight and no matter how many times Eliza saw it, she could never say she really tired of it, after all it was just a fraction of the wealth she'd been groomed to inherit.

Eliza gulped and Lisa stood with eyes wide open.

Inhaling Eliza steeled herself, raised a hand towards the gate. Magic tingled her fingers like always.

A click and the gates swung open.

"Welcome home, daughter."

Author Note: I'd like to say thanks for all the comments and follows. This the end of season 0 of Eliza and Lisa's story, but don't worry Season 1 will be coming up soon. I'll try a post chapters once a week to get on some sort of schedule, so expect the next chapter in about a week or so. Once again, thanks for all the feedback it's much appreciated.
