We made our annual Dodgers game trip to LA that year in mid July and got to meet Susan and Brian's baby daughter Jasmine in person for the first time. Though my hands itched to hold her, I planned to let Cassie go first even before Susan entrusted her daughter to my wife's arms. Rebecca was obsessed with her baby sister and sat next to her aunt Cassie where she received just as many hugs and kisses as Jasmine. When it was my turn to hold Jasmine, Rebecca came to sit next to me to stay close to her baby sister.

I could tell a story about almost everyday with Jack and Nathan in our lives but we'd never get to the end that way. In June of 2009, when Jack had just turned three and Nathan was almost two, their uncle Jay married Emily. They wanted a smaller ceremony with their closest friends and family. Rather than a large wedding party, Jay had Marc as his best man and Emily chose her sister Sarah to be her maid of honor. Emily looked like a princess in her wedding dress and Jay smiled like I'd never seen before. The boys, Nathan in Cassie's lap and Jack on mine, were on their best behavior during the ceremony but got the chance to play with their older cousins Matthew and Maddie at the reception.

The Dumont family welcomed Emily like they had me several years earlier. Cassie and I were ecstatic for her brother Jay who deserved all the happiness in the world. We posed for endless pictures throughout the day but my absolute favorite was of the three Dumont siblings with their spouses. Jay and Emily were in the middle with Marc and Julie to their right and Cassie and I on the left. We have a framed copy of the photo hanging in the house and whenever I look at it I'm reminded that not only did I win the heart of my sweet Canadian girl, but her entire sweet Canadian family too.

"The boys are exhausted from all the running around at the reception," Cassie said as we put them in bed. We had them sharing a room with a kid sized beds on either side. Eventually they'd get their own rooms but they both cried if either of us mentioned it now.

"I am too," I said yawning.

"You'll sleep well soon," she said squeezing my hand. "Nothing turns me on more than a wedding."

"I'm not too tired for that," I assured her as we went to our bedroom.

"I love you," she said hugging me tight.

"I love you too," I said kissing her deeply as soon as her arms loosened around my neck.

We tumbled onto the bed fully clothed and made out until I was rock hard and wide awake. It was one of those nights where we tried to undress each other without breaking our kisses for long. A horribly inefficient way to get naked but we made it eventually. Cassie would fret about other people seeing the signs of motherhood on her skin but not with me. A few visual reminders that she was the mother of my children only made her more attractive to me. She was content to let me worship her body with my hands and lips until I felt her gentle touch on my face and one glance at her face told me what she wanted.

I knelt between her legs which magically spread for me and showed her my erection. Cassie could paint my cock from memory but she bit her lip as if seeing it for the very first time. I could easily read her desires now and knew she wanted to make love tenderly. As I penetrated her, she wrapped her arms around me to hold me close. I found myself thinking about our own weddings nights from two different ceremonies, one secret and one shared. Even with the slow pace of our lovemaking, those thoughts made me cum far too soon.

Cassie left the bed for a moment to visit our master bathroom. When she returned she bent over my cock to bring it back to life with her mouth. This time she was ready for some long, hard fucking and took a turn on top riding me to show me exactly what she wanted. It was one of those rare nights where we fucked like we had before we became parents. We put the extra space of our queen sized bed to good use moving from one side to the other as we changed positions constantly. Cassie was loud and carefree letting me take her anyway I wanted. We were sweating and panting when I pulled out to cum on her back and collapse along side her. She caught her breath before kissing me with all her love and we crawled under the covers to fall asleep, the blankets we could wash in the morning.

"What's wrong my love?" Cassie asked Jack while we were feeding the boys their dinner a few weeks later.

"I don't like," he said pushing his peas away though he'd eaten them before.

"No," Nathan said when I tried to feed him another spoonful. Though Jack was a bit of a fussy eater, Nathan would usually eat whatever we made but was learning the habit from his older brother.

"Come on Nathan," I said. "Look how good they are," I said tasting a few myself. When I held up the spoon again he opened mouth and let me feed some to him.

"Okay Jack if you don't like them I'm going to give them to Nathan," Cassie said as she pretended to move some from Jack's dish to Nathan's.

"Mine not Nathan's," Jack said and suddenly both boys liked their peas again for another day at least.

That year we went to see the Dodgers in July too. We had a second birthday party for Nathan with his American relatives and invited Tim, Lei, and their daughter Laura to come to the party too. They brought a gift for Nathan that Laura carried over to our son. Nathan was still very shy around most other children, besides his older brother Jack who he followed everywhere, but he made friends with Laura right away. She helped him open the present and they spent the day playing with his new toys together. When it was time for Laura to go home with her parents Nathan, who cried far less than any other child I've ever known, became very upset.

Before we came home we went over to Tim and Lei's house for dinner and a play date. Nathan had somehow remembered which toy Laura liked best and brought it with us. Cassie had done such a fantastic job teaching the boys to share and Nathan had so many new toys at my parent's house that he wanted her to keep it. Everyone thought it was sweet of him and he spent the whole day with her again. When it was time to go home this time he didn't cry but he did give his new friend Laura a goodbye hug.

Now that the boys were old enough to start trick-or-treating Cassie was torn on one of her favorite days of the whole year. Obviously she couldn't deny her children the joys of Halloween and got dressed up to take them around the neighborhood for an hour. The boys had matching dalmatian costumes and Cassie went as Cruella De Vil. Despite her villainous outfit Cassie would never convince anyone who knew her that there was an evil bone in her body. I stayed home to give out treats and made a video of each group of kids waving and saying 'Happy Halloween Cassie!' for her to watch later.

In November we sent Laura a birthday gift from Nathan continuing the tradition of them exchanging gifts that Tim and Lei had started. There was a family development even bigger than that though. The home that Jay and Emily bought was finished with renovations and the whole Dumont family was invited to dinner. Emily's parents and sister were there too. That should have been enough for us to see what was coming but we were all surprised when they announced that they were expecting their first child. I sat back waiting my turn to offer my congratulations and took in the sweet embraces of Jay and his wife with their families. Jay didn't forget me for a second though and whispered his thanks for helping him through his darkest days, a favor he'd never forget no matter how hard I tried to say it was all Cassie's doing.

"I'm so happy for Jay and Emily," Cassie said when we finally got the boys to sleep that night.

"You were right all along they're perfect for each other. They'll make great parents," I said.

"How do you know that?" she asked.

"Because your brother is a Dumont and you picked his wife," I said making her laugh.

"I miss this feeling," she said.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"I think I'm ready to have another baby," she said.

"We can start trying again as soon as you're sure," I said.

"I'm sure I ready to have another baby," she said right away and I laughed along with her.

In April 2010 we took the boys on our first family camping trip. We had a tent and sleeping bags but the provincial park we chose was close enough to home that we weren't committed to spending the night if the boys didn't like it. With my love of nature and Cassie's careful planning the boys enjoyed every second of it and we planned to make a longer trip of it next time. The morning after we packed up the tent and took the boys on a short walk along one of the trails.

"Whoa daddy look!" Jack shouted.

"What is it?" I asked. "Wait Jack stay on the trail," I said but he didn't go far.

"It's a turtle," he said holding it up.

"Let me see," Nathan straining to be free from his mother's hand.

"Put him down Jack you're scaring him," I said.

"You can look at him but be careful," Cassie said smiling at their excitement.

"Can we keep him?" Jack asked.

"No we can't take him home," I said but it was no use trying to explain something was illegal to a small child.

"Why not?" Jack said as his little brother tried to pet the turtle.

"Nathan!" Cassie said stopping him at the last second. The scared turtle was probably ready to bite one of our sons by now.

"Well he probably has a mommy and daddy turtle that are trying to find him right now. Imagine how sad we'd be if a big turtle took you or Nathan home and we could never find you again," I said.

"I'm sorry turtle I didn't mean to take you away," Jack said.

"It's okay," I assured him. "As long as we leave him here where we found him I'm sure he can find his way home." I took a few pictures and when we got home we looked up what kind of turtle it was on my laptop. I read all the information on the site to them, doing my best to make it interesting for two young children.

That summer I finally got around to taking my Canadian citizenship test. Cassie knew I was completely committed to my life in Vancouver with her and our children but becoming an official citizen was still something special to her. When I came home to show her that all my studying had paid off with a perfect score she promised me she had a very special gift for me after dinner. I thought she meant sex but that was the least of it.

"Are you ready for your surprise now?" she called from our bathroom.

"I'm ready," I said already smiling.

"Do you like it?" she asked stepping out to show me she was wearing lingerie in the red and white colors of my adopted country.

"It's very pretty wrapping but I'm more interested in what's underneath," I said making her giggle. "What are you holding?" I asked.

"You mean this?" she said smiling as she handed it to me.

"You're pregnant?" I said seeing the blue plus sign on the little plastic device.

"Yes," she said smiling even wider.

"Oh sweetie, I love you so much," I said as she sat on my lap.

"I love you too," she said kissing me. "Even though I'm already pregnant, it's never too early to practice for next time."

In September Cassie had the boys dressed in tiny suits and on their very best behavior as I went through my citizenship ceremony. I had the short oath memorized but I struggled to recite the words as I watched Cassie smiling at me from the crowd with happy tears rolling down her cheeks. We returned home to a surprise party in my honor thrown by my in-laws but planned by my sweet Canadian girl. I found myself reflecting on my idyllic life with Cassie. We had our two wonderful boys Jack and Nathan plus she was pregnant with our third child due to arrive in late January. Whenever I thought life couldn't get better Cassie made sure it did.

In mid October Cassie received something far better than any birthday gift, the birth of a new baby niece. Emily gave birth to Grace Irene Dumont on October 14th bringing even more joy to the growing family. Cassie went to see her new niece in hospital while I watched the boys and came home to find the three of us making a fort out of a huge cardboard box. There was a mess I promised to clean up but rather than show any sign of anger Cassie helped us finish their little play house.

"A boy or a girl?" Cassie asked me to guess a few weeks later at Violet's office.

"A girl for sure," I said. It seemed everyone else we knew had a daughter so surely it was our turn now.

"Good morning," Violet said coming into the examination room.

"Good morning Violet," Cassie said.

"Hello Violet," I said keeping my promise to call her by her first name.

"You know the drill now," Violet laughed at Cassie's already rolled shirt. We watched the ultrasound screen as the first image of our third child appeared. It was a feeling that never got old. "It's boy number three," she said after a few minutes.

"Are you sure?" I asked.

"I wouldn't say anything if I wasn't sure," Violet said.

"We thought it would be a girl this time," Cassie explained. "But we're happy either way." I looked to Cassie and took in her smile. I was filled with shame for showing even a shred of disappointment with the gender reveal. She couldn't wait to meet our newest son and I felt exactly the same way.

"More than happy," I said taking Cassie's hand. "Thank you Violet."

"My pleasure," she said leaving to see her next patient.

"Sorry sweetie," I said as soon as we were alone.

"For what?" she asked.

"I wanted a girl so bad that I didn't let my excitement show," I said.

"I wanted a girl too but now that we know we're having another son could you really be any happier?" she asked.

"No," I said thinking back over all the incredible moments with Jack and Nathan.

"Then there's nothing to be sorry for," she said.

For the first time we were unable to finalize a name for our unborn child during the car ride after her appointment. Part of it was putting too much preparation into crafting lists of baby girl names. We shared a few back and forth but none of the names appealed to both of us. I thought perhaps Cassie would be upset with me but should have known better. She was happy that I took the decision seriously and didn't go along with one of the names on her list just because she liked it. The next day we sat down with a baby name book that we'd both browsed many times before and flipped to a random page. We opened it to somewhere in the middle but the pages turned back towards the front on their own to land in the Cs where a name jumped off the page at us.

"Cameron?" Cassie said.

"That's the first name I saw too," I said. "I really like it."

"Cameron Kellogg," she said with her prettiest smile and I knew we were almost there.

"Should we let the book pick his middle name too?" I asked.

"No," she said shaking her head.

"What did you have in mind?" I asked.

"My mom's dad was named Walter," she said.

"Cameron Walter Kellogg sounds really good to me," I said.

"We can't wait to meet you Cameron," she said rubbing her belly.

Jack and Nathan became enthralled with the idea that a baby brother was growing in mommy's tummy over the final months of Cassie's pregnancy. The wonder on their faces when they felt the baby move brought back memories of how I felt when it was them inside and me feeling their little kicks. Now that we'd chosen a name for our unborn son there was no room for anything but love for him in my heart. I suspected that Cassie would want to try at least once more for a girl after Cameron was born but right away I knew that was wrong. She would want to have another child but another boy or our first girl, it didn't really matter at all.

Christmas that year was the first that both Jack and Nathan really seemed to grasp. The idea of Santa was something that excited them to no end. The list of what they wanted Santa to bring changed every time you asked them but between Cassie and I they got all that and more. We made sure on Christmas morning that they opened their gifts one by one so they would finish at the same time. Looking back, that was the year Cassie and I finally admitted to ourselves that we had a problem with self control when it came to buying gifts for our children. You couldn't even see the boys sitting behind the huge stacks of toys when a few each would have been plenty.

"Jack, Nathan," Cassie said to our boys. "Come give mommy a hug and a kiss. I love both so much. Be good for nanny and poppy Dumont."

"They're always good little boys," Kathleen said ruffling their hair.

"Why can't we come?" Jack asked.

"We're going to the hospital to get baby Cameron," I said. "You and Nathan need to make sure there are toys ready for him to play with when we come home."

"Come with me J.R. and Nathan. Your mommy and daddy need to go for now," Marcel said. His smile for his daughter and I said everything else.

"You don't seem nervous this time," Cassie said as we got in our car.

"You've never seemed nervous," I said.

"I'm just good at hiding it," she said. "Let's go have a baby."

It was January 28th and the only surprise so far was that Cassie's water had broken on a Friday instead of a Thursday like with his brothers, as if Cameron was a day late or perhaps six days early. We got settled into a delivery room at the hospital and waited for Violet to arrive. There was a knock on the door and I wondered who it could be. It was Marc delivering food on behalf of his father who was busy watching our boys. I laughed and thanked him, then invited him in to see his sister for a few minutes. It was a sign of how comfortable we were becoming with the time between Cassie's water breaking and giving birth which was still at least a few hours away.

Violet arrived to examine Cassie about an hour after we arrived and confirmed everything was fine. It was early afternoon and the delivery was expected that evening based on the spacing of Cassie's contractions. That left hours for Cassie and I to play a few of the travel board games she packed and talked about how anxious we were to meet Cameron. We were looking forward to introducing him to his older brothers who had been asking about him almost everyday for weeks now. Cassie wanted to guess his eye color and chose brown for her guess. I said blue to be different but from the moment I learned she was pregnant with a boy I pictured him with brown eyes like his brothers, like me.

When Jack was born Cassie had only books and the experiences of others to prepare her and she showed no fear. With Nathan she knew what was coming and still showed no fear, even when his birth was more difficult. Now with Cameron on the way she seemed to welcome the ordeal of childbirth because she knew how sweet the reward is. Like any man that's supported his partner while she brings their child into the world I was simply in awe of her. That she would gladly face the challenge for a third time to give us another child made telling her I loved her a thousand times over seem like barely a start on what I owed her. I held her hand as she panted her way through the final pushes and heard the sound of new life from Cameron's tiny lungs.

"Hello Cameron," Cassie said holding him carefully despite her exhaustion. "Mommy is so happy to see you at last," she added as she shed tears of joy.

"Your daddy is too," I said reaching out to touch him gently.

"That's right we both are. We love you so much. Our precious baby boy," Cassie said. She let a nurse take him from her arms to be cleaned and weighted, knowing he'd be back soon.

"You're incredible," I said gazing down at my wife. "I love you." I thought those words weren't enough but they were all she ever needed to hear from me.

"I love you too," she said.

As always our newborn was returned to Cassie's waiting arms wrapped in a warm blanket. He had the same dark brown eyes as his brothers and I, just as Cassie predicted. She held him through his first breastfeeding building an unbreakable bond between mother and child. I knew she would let me hold him for the first time soon but was prepared to wait as long as she wanted to keep him in her arms. With our first child she had trusted me completely from the minute he was born and now I even trusted myself as she let me cradle Cameron in my arms. Cassie lay on her side, exhausted but unable to sleep when she could watch her husband holding his newest son for the first time. She'd sleep when the baby did and not a moment sooner.
