I have just started re-read “Pride and Prejudice” and I am stuck by the similarities with your work — I have a suspicion you have also read Austen, possibly during the shutdown.

I get pissed off when stories in an arc don’t get respectable ratings, when they are advancing the plot (and contain pointers, FFS!)
