I haven't read chapter 7 yet, but 1-6 were very good. As to Pet's mate, perhaps Dave has his vasectomy reversed? Or his sperm harvested, as he still makes them, they just never get into the "flow" outbound. Also, does Dave have a brother who he's close to?
