Note to readers: Hi.! This is my very first published work. I'd like to mention two distinctly creative authors from Literotica, who made me want to type up a story in the first place. DocCIS and Iwroteathing. My writing style, which is a mixture of longform, slow-burn character study, is largely a direct result of reading the works of DocCIS. Him, and the erotic, yet melancholic encounters in many many, many unique situations from the deliciously wicked mind of Iwroteathing. This work is a direct inspiration from 'Queenfall' by Iwroteathing. Even long after reading it, I was left with a craving for more. Specifically the tension, and the complex chemistry between its two main characters. In the weeks followed, they grew in my mind, into Elanor and Agrafena. The Queen and the Horse Whisperer. They began telling me their encounters, their backstories, their dreams and hopes. And mostly about the way fate seemed to play with them. All I'm doing is taking notes.

If you enjoy this, chances are you already know my inspirations. If not please checkout their works. If you are into longer, episodic narratives, please give this one a try.

A Queen's Dilemma

The streets of the town of Templeton were unusually quiet, a strike contrast to the city famed for it's vibrant nightlife in the whole of the Imperial kingdom of Wolkenshire. Pavements and corners seemed deserted as the midnight moon lit up the cobbled roads against the silent night. The royals, ministers, vendors, workers, wives, virgins, courtesans and even most of the homeless were busy celebrating elsewhere, leaving the city to have a peaceful rest. And like from a dream of the streets, the clopping of a horse hoofs cut through the quiet. A wild dark horse galloped across the bridge and into the deserted streets. Upon the horse sat a young woman, her thick lush auburn hair trailing them, dancing in the wind. Her eyes were wide open in dread, her wrists chained to the horses neck and bosoms bouncing wildly, as her hips straddled the horse back. She was Elanor the Chaste, the Queen of Wolkenshire. The ruling monarch.

Riding through the streets of her subject city, she wasn't suppressing a civil war, catching up to the enemy, nor being chased by the bandits. Yet her panic wouldn't seem unreasonable for any lucky onlooker. For the Queen rode the dark beauty, a strike contrast to her complexion, clad in nothing but her frilly loin cloth. Which seemed more than translucent now, soaked in her own juices and sweat. A result of the constant straddling, the resulting ecstasy of which was her only relief in that state of panic. She hoped no one had stayed back at their homes or shops. She hoped the ones who did were long asleep, and didn't bother to check the noisy clopping. She saw the disbelief in one of the homeless vagrant who stood frozen at the corner. She saw his shock turned to a lustful grin, as her horse rode past, leaving him to his fantasies. This was the third tonight, and Elanor wasn't bothered about the possible gossips and rumors starting from a few feeble vagrants. What worried her was the possibility of eventually running into any of her own men patrolling the streets. And that despite her best efforts the mare showed no signs nor interest of stopping.

"This is a disaster." Elanor muttered to herself, still hyperventilating. Well aware of the futility, she could not help but wonder.

'How did she get here?!'

The Meeting

Two weeks before.

Elanor walked past the gates of the Cathedral. It's sacred ground beyond this point, so no more royal companions, nor weapons of any kind. There isn't much to worry about, she's here on a direct invitation from the High Priest, Bishop Benedictus Flavius himself. Her security had already swept the premises and additional guardrails had been put in place. It's been a week since their last meeting, when she had confided in him the current dilemma. The solution which hopefully awaited her inside.

She remembered the first time they met. Benedictus had officiated her wedding to King Barthomius, her one true love. King Barthomius Wolkenshire and Queen Elanor of Wolkenshire, the royal couple and soon to be ruling monarch. Barthomius had always looked up to the High Priest, which alone was enough for Elanor to confide in him. But that deep trust only fortified with what she saw in the Priest's eyes, the same look she grew up seeing in her own father. The look of unconditional goodwill. The blessing countenance of a proud old man.

As she walked past the visiting hallways to the High Priest's official chamber, she noticed the only other person in vicinity standing at a corner. It was a short young woman, impeccably dressed, lost in admiring the fresco that adorned the hall ceilings. That's when Elanor first met Bellatrix, the Horse whisperer. Or formally addressed as Lady Agrafena. Bellatrix was taken aback by the sheer grandness of the Cathedral, her first time inside the sacred grounds. Even though she had known Father Benedictus all her life, since he was a junior priest and her a little girl in his orphanage, she never realized how influential her benefactor truly was. This was all still a dream to her. So she didn't realize the Queen herself had just walked past beside her, a true rarity for a mere commoner.

The servants opened the door to his study, as the Queen walked in to a welcoming smile. Benedictus was not just happy to see her, but proud of what she had achieved in a short year as their Queen. His eyes brimmed with pride. Elanor felt at home unusually, but made sure she stayed vigilant. For such was the purpose of the visit. After exchanging pleasantries and sitting down at his table, a more serious expression appeared on his face. He said.

"Daughter. Without going into the details I must tell you. Your dilemma, and the nature of it, it's alien to a man of faith by design. I do not judge you for what you have told me. But I'm certain you had judged yourself enough, based on the facts you saw fit to omit from your own account. But I am at no such liberty, I simply shouldn't lie, even to heal. So, I do not have an answer. Even if you did the unthinkable, and god forbid told your account in it's entirety, I still won't be able to help. I believe it is by design. The path I chose prevents me from advising on such extremes, advice of any immediate utility, that is."

Benedictus saw all hope drain from Elanor's body, except for that glimmer which still shined in her eyes. 'That is my child. Never give up hope, daughter.' he thought to himself. And said, sounding much positive.

"Although, I do have the next best thing. The only person I can vouch, to be able to get to the bottom of such.. unconventional problems."

Elanor's whole posture changed again, going from despair to hopeful in an instant. She asked gently, almost uncharacteristic for a Queen, "Tell me Father, who is it?"

"Your Majesty. Elanor. What do you know of Lady Agrafena?"

Elanor remembered the name.It was a legend they all heard from their childhood. The last surviving member of the great witches of the north. All banished or burned a few decades ago at the last great purge of the Northern Kingdom. The stories of which were so violent and vivid, she almost thought them to be myths. The remaining sisters were believed to evade the public wrath and take refuge amongst Wolkenshire's horse tribes.

"The Lady Agrafena? The 'Witch' of the North plains?! How could she be real? Or even alive, after all these years?" Elanor couldn't make sense of the Priest.

"You are not wrong, nor mistaken. Lady Agrafena is real, and long gone. I thought you knew, unlike my predecessors I do not believe in persecution, of any sects. I'm talking about her surviving daughter, Lady Bellatrix of Agrafena."

Elanor couldn't help but interject. "It's not just what I know, but admire about you Father. The ways see all as equal before the Almighty. You are aware how hard I try to alleviate such tensions in this Kingdom. But I cannot imagine you'd suggest the solution for my troubles await in witchcraft."

The Priest just smiled. "Oh, I wish your solutions were as simple as witchcraft. But no. For one, Agrafena the original was no witch. She was a special child of a rare spectrum. Possibly autistic and misunderstood. She could notice things that people couldn't and when she predicted the obvious they called it magic. When the obvious was an impending disaster, and even if all she did was predict, they called it black magic. And of course witchcraft. It is true that the sisterhood of witchcraft took her in, and helped her flee. To the best of my knowledge she was not a witch. Believe me, I've met witches who couldn't help but be amazed at what she did naturally. But enough about the mother."

Elanor leaned in as the Priest continued.

"Bellatrix of Agrafena was born to a gifted mother, and raised in a tribe of horsemen. Although she was orphaned early on, by the time she reached my facility she had not only developed her mother's observation, but also a keen sense of the equine. And years later, at the tender age of eighteen she has excelled at it. In the business they call her 'the Horse Whisperer'. Because they couldn't explain how she picks the horses or trains them. They can see the training and even copy, but no where near her results. They couldn't figure out what she sees, nor how to replicate it reliably."

Elanor kept listening, even though she doubted how this could end someplace fruitful. It had reflected in her demeanor, and was evident to Benedictus.

"This isn't ideal, nor guaranteed. But your situation Elanor, it's not just a rarity. It's unconventional. You can check all the secret records of the Wolkenshire Kingdom, dating back to ages. All recorded affairs behind closed doors, all of debaucheries and unholy alliances of the nocturnal kind. None comes close to your situation. Your royal physicians and advisors will be just as clueless, and quick to demonize and judge. But. You knew all that."

Elanor sighed, and nodded in agreement. The Priest concluded, "That girl out there, she hasn't met a horse she couldn't tame. Because she isn't trying to. She says she simply talks to the wild in them, and figures an out for it all. She is as unconventional as I have seen. Also there is a limit to my knowledge of the feminine, and the matters of it's kind. She's closer to you in age, and I've already briefed her though not in any significant detail."

"And her price would be.." Elanor decided to give it a go, even in low spirits.

"It's not gold. She understands she can ask without shame, considering the nature of the task. But, and again, this is a wise one. I believe she has figured the client to be from the royal lineage, probably a Baroness of the highest influence. To have me request it directly. She also would do it for free, for my sake. But she wants only one thing in return. Her own way out as well. I'll tell you afterwards, depending on the outcome of today's meeting."

Benedictus stood up, gesturing the Queen to stay seated. She understood he was going to call the horse trainer in. Even though she questioned his rational, Elanor trusted the man's wisdom. Even more she believed in his goodwill.

"One thing you must know. She'll know if you are lying, and she'll walk out at the first sign. She sure has a lot of her mother, and the usual royal threats won't work. She'll just face it, than live under. And I know you want this to work, so please do not omit any details. Or no lies at least, no matter how crude you have to be. I'll let her in, you can stay as long it takes, the room is safe."

Meanwhile, outside a young ambitious girl kept roaming across the waiting halls.

Even though her eyes wandered over the fresco, her mind was wondering of her plans, her dreams. In high times these halls will be filled with throngs of people waiting for a glimpse of the Holy Bishop, Father Benedictus to her. But today it's just her. And who could it be so influential to grand a private meeting at his place, to an audience of none.

Even at a young age, Bellatrix had outperformed all expectations. Not just the top of her game, but a game of her own. She had grown as much as possible. And there weren't much ground to cover as a mere commoner. She needed an official alliance, a proposal from the upper class. A pact of blood, either a marital congression, or an heir in offspring. Hoping for a marriage of convenience from the upper class was out of question. They treasured their worth, and wouldn't share it even in jest. But an heir in offspring is not unprecedented. She had heard of unparalleled beauties from the countryside wooing the hearts of innocent aristocrats. If successfully consummated with child, the child has all the rights of the aristocracy, and by extension the mother benefits from the privilege as well. Even though frowned upon in the upper echelons, this was a legitimate way of driving yourself up the societal ladder. The privilege alone will open possibilities, and Bellatrix had always dreamed of expansion untethered by her family name. She believed anyone with enough influence to get a private audience with Father Benedictus could make her dreams true in a blink.

Bella woke up from her thoughts as the Priest tapped on her shoulder.

"Daydreaming as always, my child..?" He smiled.

"Father! oh mine..."

"Now, you go ahead in. She wants to talk to you alone. I hope all goes well, for she's a good soul. Just in a deeply troubled circumstance. And what you do, will be a service to your Kingdom."

Bellatrix was taken aback by the commitment in the Priest's words. "So the client is a woman of substantial power! Uhm.. Shall I go in.?"

"Not just any woman, my child" He smiled, "Its the Queen. Your Queen!"

As petrified as she felt, Bellatrix realized she had already bowed to Father Benedictus, and walked towards the open door. With the Father leaving closing the door behind, leaving them alone.

There was a moment of awkward silence that weighed down both the women in the room.

"Her Highness, your humble subject. Lady Bellatrix of Agrafena, at your service." Bellatrix managed to complete the sentence through her quivering lips.

"Take a seat Bella, and dispense with the formalities. That's an order." Elanor broke the air, taking command as usual. "I can understand the response. I believe you were thinking more like a Baroness or an upper class youngster when Father gave you the brief. But I can assure you, I am the client. And whatever Father disclosed to you, barely scratches the surface. Unlike your compliance, but your goodwill is something beyond my command. And necessary for the task at hand. Anything we discuss beyond this point, if repeated outside is treasonous by law. So this is the time to speak your mind. Are you comfortable to proceed?"

'The Queen! The queen?!' Bellatrix's mind was still struggling with the new development. Then she realized, if the Queen can't help her situation, no one could. It shook her back to sanity, as she cleared her throat, and regained her composure.

"At your service, my Queen. Please proceed."

"Excellent. The matter is of utmost urgency, so I'm not going to personally vet you for competence. I'm trusting the judgement of Father Benedictus. I understand you require a full account of the scenario from myself. To break the ice, tell me what you know so far."

'This is uncomfortable', thought Bellatrix. "He said that you were under tremendous administrative pressure the last few months. Then you had an incident, an experience while you were visiting the Summer Castle. And afterwards you felt so clear-headed that you were able to focus on the administration with much ease, to glorious results."

'She's dancing around.' the Queen thought. "Go on..."

"Father also said you attempted recreating the incident multiple times, but it all failed to make an effective response. And you can't afford to not stay clear-headed, considering the 'Diplomatic Covenant' we are about to host in a few months."

'This one is wise to not offend me directly, considering the nature of the problem', the Queen made a mental note. 'But she better jump into the offensive territory soon, or we'll be here all day, skirting around and getting no where.' Elanor asked directly, "And what do you know about this.. 'incident', explicitly?"

"That it left you in an extremely aroused state, carnally. That it was the most satisfying sexual encounter, and yet it left you chaste." Bella had also realized that they wouldn't get anywhere unless it's spelt out confidently.

"He told me you went to your old chamber in the Summer Castle, the chamber you used to share with King Barthomius. When you came across your bedroom mirror, it reminded you of an encounter with the late King. And while you were in that heightened arousal some servants may have walked in on you.. Father wouldn't go into the details, stating it'd be better if heard directly from the source."

'So she doesn't know a thing. How can I explain it to her?' Elanor sat there wondering how to broach the actual topic.

"Well Bella! Let me state it, so the rules are clear. In order for this 'unconventional' treatment to work, I'm going to let you speak your mind freely in these sessions. And be open and honest with you about myself, far beyond I've done with my physicians even. So don't think your words could disrespect me. Ask me whatever you want. What you know so far is the crux of the matter. I've tried the erotic teachings from the royal scrolls even, but there is no account of such an incident resulting in a sexual high."

Bella took a moment to take it all. Then asked.

"Would you mind recounting then. That memory of yours about your late husband, in all it's detail." Bella was starting to get a grip. She did this all the times, observe a horse retrace it's steps, and figure out what bothered it from the behavior. The mystery to her was why no one else managed to figure it out.

She leaned in, as Elanor began telling her story.

The Queen Recalls..

Elanor barged into the Royal chambers curled up in a deep embrace with Bard, her tongue diving its way into his throat. Barthomius, lovingly called Bard, realized what started of as a gentle kiss has broken into something of an instant consummation. His sense rushed in as he gently gripped her by the cheeks and pushed her face back, her lips fighting it, biting on to his lower lip even.

"No, not now. We have guests over. And the staff."

"Come on, kiss me before they walk in on purpose" Elanor was jovial.

"No, we mustn't. You know we mustn't." His voice playfully policing.

"But please.." Elanor played along, "I couldn't be more wet and willing you see."

"Oh my Queen, you could be a lot willing.." Bard smirked, "and certainly a lot more wet."

"What's this with the men of Wlolkenshire? Usually it's the lady who pulls the reign."

Bard laughed, "Sure lady, married for six months, and I'm yet to see you pull it though.! And what men would you rather prefer, Caltheans?"

As the King leaned in for a kiss, Elanor rolled over in protest. "Maybe, I'm sure men of Calthea would have bred me by now.!"

"Men, huh..?! I was expecting man" Bard playfully pushed the boundaries to her angered eyes.

"How can anyone come up with a tradition were a man and woman are wed, and still can't consummate till the church gives okay?" Elanor sounded annoyed.

"First of all, not for all weddings. When a King makes a women his Queen, they are expected to produce an heir. And for all blessings to shower upon that moment, they are expected to consummate their regal relationship at the time of choosing by the stars. Usually it takes two weeks to a month. However our stars aligned so great that we get to enjoy foreplay for two more months. Kings respect tradition, that's what kings do. Oh, you are wet!"
