Not your best. The end of the relationship with Darla left lot to be desired. We never got to hear from her really. After that the story was boring. Dry
You have bottled perfection and woven it into a wonderful story.
You should be proud
Just one small point; I believe it is actually called the “Intracoastal Waterway”. Great read though.
Pleasant fantasy, with a few delightful typos. This is the best of them: “… and when he thwarted an assignation attempt…”
No pixels were harmed by the would-be assassin, or is that assignator?
A bit of a change story wise but no change in quality. Thanks Q for another amazing 5 star tale.
somewhere east of Omaha
A powerful story, deserting Fi when she was ill was a low point but it was what he did when things were bad with his first wife
Enough is enough ! It feels like setting foot in an oriental souk ! This story goes into too much detail ! Why not start when the main character is born ? That would add about 20 more pages. 3* for the writing.
This is a really great story . A lot of yours are but this is one I consider best so far .
Really good! Just really fantastic, exactly what I was hoping for in these stories. 5* and I wish it was a gigantic novel that I could set on my shelf.
Such a good Writer. Loved the story! Nice to have something to read haven't found much worth reading recently. Thank you!
was pleasant to read, but in retrospect I must say ... 8 pages are too long
I loved this story. It is my pick for the best of the litter. Thank you again for a wonderful read,
Noice! …very good story. Enjoyed reading and lost some sleep. Thank-you for this
It started off okay, but the ending sucked.
Basically he got dumped by one woman after another, until he married a single mom who couldn't give him any kids. Then even that miserable consolation prize got ruined when she snapped and went crazy.
Meh.
The guy was so stupidly rich he could have easily afforded a surrogate or twenty to continue his legacy. Instead he's a genetic dead-end.
Redneck rich? More like redneck loser. Even the slut wife got a happy ending and a baby of her own.
What the hell has happened to Literotica…..? The big boys are back! Readable stories, proper characterisation, not a wimp or cuckold or cock cage in sight.
For the first time in ages I have given 5 stars. Thoroughly good read, well done.
Great story. Couldn’t put it down. One minor correction. Disney World. Disneyland is in California.
I would love to see some stories about Ian as a young sailor and as a married father .
great story, in earlier days we had a term different than "redneck"...........
Remarkable writing as always, I enjoy ever story of your that I've read and several multiple times.
Fantastic. And easily among your best works - and given your productivity, that's an impressive feat. This had depth and feeling that just grab you and pull you in. Thank you for a great read.
Yep …
Once ba character gets as rich as Midas and as famous as Mohammed Ali it is time to wrap up a story. 4*
Great story Q, as usual. I clear my freaking calendar when you post one. Keep developing those characters. I always love them.
A excellent story...
You are definitely a spellbinding Storyteller!
Don't give a second thought to the negative comments...
This day and time someone always has to whine and cry about anything and everything!!!
I do believe that these cry babies would whine about winning the power ball lottery because they had to pay taxes on it...
Definitely 5 🌟s
Looking forward to your next post.
Great story. I just want to know if did actually take his name odd the wall.
As a thought for michelm91: If you don't like reading and believe that "this story goes into too much detail", why in the blinding fuck don't you just stick to Twitter where your apparently limited ability to concentrate won't be overtaxed? No offense, just tryin' to be helpful . . .
Another epic tale that combines authenticity, superb character development, and the depth of plotting that makes it a supremely enjoyable read. Thanks for another enjoyable experience.
Great story, i totally loved it. I want to think it ended too soon just because I wanted to read more of this. Yes, you ended it when it should have, I know that. I'll miss reading it for a while, I'm going to revisit this over and over.
michelm91, I see you haven't written anything here yet; maybe constructive criticism would be handier instead of putting down someone for doing something that you can't.
Damn but you spin a fine tale
One question, though
on page 1 who the hell is Bobbi?
"I told Bobbi I needed a private space"
This reads more like Fantasy than Loving Wives, albeit without the swords and sorcery, in that nothing truly heart-wrenching happens to Miles other than his initial divorce. And even then, he gets over Darla and her infidelity rather quickly and painlessly. It was like he went, "Boohoo! My wife cheated on me, so I'll give her half of my money, then go on some trips, write some books, and make it all back, and lots more." There wasn't a lot of emotion shown by any of the characters, until Fiona hit menopause. However, that too passed without creating many ripples. One last thing: I think you meant to say that Ian thwarted an 'assassination' attempt on the Ambassadors, and not an 'assignation' attempt. Because an assignation is 'an appointment to meet someone in secret, typically one made by lovers.' Or 'the allocation or attribution of someone or something as belonging to something.' There were a few other things that made my inner Editor twitch, but that was the biggest.
What a wonderful escape from my reality. Thank you very much for sharing your writing with us. Your Norseman references were outstanding
Enjoyed reading tremendously! It should be more than a 5! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Oh, did I remember to Thank you? Well written and enjoyable. Cheers.
Interesting and well written story. Thanks for the read.
Other wise, the title was a huge "red herring" and a "swing and a miss" on the whole redneck rich cliché.
Rich Redneck usually refers to a member of society exhibiting low class, redneck tendencies but has come into a large sum of money, whether it's through a self-made construction business, winning the lottery, or through a large inheritance. Many "rich rednecks" CAN be either redneck with a massive amount of money. Others are outwardly classy with a slight hint of the redneckness sprinkled in while in private or in the right company act like well dressed rednecks.
Plus no true redneck parent rich or otherwise would ever name their kid "Miles".
It’s hard to say this is the best of the bunch, given the quality of your other stories. Still, perhaps due to my Scottish heritage, I believe it might well be. Thank you for sharing!
5* - another awesome story by one of the best (if not THE best) authors on Literotica - and that says a lot...
Great story, loved it.
But no one in this or any other country has used the phrase ‘In his cups’ since Shakespeare and Marlowe’s time.
I'm a little conflicted by this. It was like a mini-autobiography. It sure held my interest. Sometimes, maybe a little too nice. Wish life was more like that. D
5* an excellent story by a legend in his own right.
(but DisneyLAND is in California, Walt Disney WORLD is in Florida)
Loved the story.
Just one thing..... adoption in the UK is a lot more complicated than that, and social services wouldn't just rock up on your doorstep with two babies as described.
It can take up to a year for a couple to be approved to adopt, and months before you get approval to foster
Good story which started really well but drifted towards the end into sentimental mush. It felt more a Romance than LW. 4 stars.
Thank you for an excellent story. Very deep and well done.
A Q story makes me grin instead of grimace at the bottom of the first page when I see 8 pages.
One of if not your best in my humble opinion.
Loved it!
Very nice to see the research and credit given to Stan Rogers and his son Nathan. A few minor errors in word usage, (assignation for assassination), but overall a good story. Redneck rich is a term I had not heard before.
Q another grand yarn reconfirming you're a "Master-of-the-Quill", salutes from a x-CPO.
/
I was expecting you to have Miles while at anchor drift off reminiscing the lyrics of Jimmy Buffets, "The Captain and The Kid".
/
While reading I kept visualizing "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" with the Ghost being the Commodore.
/
The description of the white-hair Commodore at the wheel in a slicer reminds me a art piece I once saw at a Great Lakes Maritime Light-House museum, the specific one elude me.
/
I was surprised that all on the the Northern-Passage expedition did not celebrate becoming a 'Blue-Nose' since they were north of the Arctic circle. I'm an Illustrious, Imperial, Crusty 'Shell-back' entertaining Davey Jones while honoring King Neptune.

6*, Hooyah, Salutes....
So few stories here soar in the rarefied atmosphere that should become regular visitors on the best selling lists.
Perhaps not this story but the teller of tales talent shines strongly as so few here do.
Thanks for keeping your hand in.
Excellent work, Q! I had planned to go write on my next story after page 3 but kept on reading the last five pages without putting it down. I was glad Darla learned her lesson without Miles reuniting with her and the event with Fiona was quite sudden and completely unexpected, making it a probable medical issue. The explanation that followed shortly thereafter was good enough but Miles leaving her without suspecting a medical issue was the one thing that seemed out of character for him to me. Glad it worked out and went on to a good ending. Great job, 5*
The hits just keep on coming from this master of the art, I urge all to read his entire body of work
Shout out to skruff101, good comment, but do not overlook George MacDonald Fraser. Check him out, especially if you enjoyed this story.
Very very very good read awesome story it was much enjoyed an appreciate ur hard work.
Wow, so many elements and characters flowing within this money honey story, qhml1 proves in this story why he is one of my favourite authors, its fairly easy to follow the flow of the story and who’s who.
I was supposed to be doing a few things around the house today, but as I started reading this one I could not put it down. A great story and I can see there was a lot of effort that went into this. Though I do have to say it does feel like qhml1 let a secret slip. I have a feel that he writes his story almost exactly like out MC ;)
Well done sir, well done!
As the great Cole Porter once opined, "baby, you're the top".
Be well and happy,
Paul
Truly, a great story. One you can enjoy reading again and again. Such a mind this author has is just mind numbing,How can there be anything other than great tales from such a great author.
Another fantastic story from a very talented writer. Such depth and such compassion. Loved it.
There were a few parts I felt that dragged out a bit, but overall an excellent adventure. 5*
Er...in his cups and walking encyclopedia are still frequently used by many although usually over 50's. Usual highest quality of writing and a great story. Thank you.
Well worth 5* from me.
I had a little chuckle at the thwarting of the "attempted assignation" (obviously meant to be an attempted assassination).
Also, I don't think lords are addressed as Sir - Sir is for knights. Lords are addressed as Lord or possibly by the type of lordship they have, Duke, Viscount, Marquess, Earl or Baron.
I agree with skruff101, we use loads of phrases for being drunk, but in his cups isn't one of them
Thanks for sharing
Phil
5* Wonderful !! The best story I've read in LW for about a year. No cucks. No sharing. No overt sex. A few morals scattered about. Several true "Loving Wives". Yep, that's the ticket!
Good story, a bit below I’m 51 and well below your classics like unexpected reaction. Still enjoyed. Thanks
"HEY HO AND UP SHE RISES, HEY HO AND UP SHE RISES, HEY HO AND UP SHE RISES, EARLIAH IN THE MORNING!"
What an ending to a wonderful story!
