While Jay reacted very positively and supportively tot he news that Rio was re-entering the porn industry, Rio’s story of his past was cautionary (or should be). Rio had a girlfriend that he loved and adored, had great sex with, but ended up ignoring her sexually, choosing the fun he had at work over home, and ultimately slid away from his lover and a domestic life. Jay should feel threatened and worried that history will repeat itself, especially since Rio struggles to tell him he loves him, wrestles with his gay desires, and says “we’re kind of in a relationship” and “we can think of each other as roommates”. These aren’t solid glowing reflections that these men are on firm committed ground here.
