Shawn listened closely, knowing his dad was right and he had no business ever talking to his mom that way again. His mind recalled flashbacks of Kendall lashing out at him the morning of her breakup with Bradley and the feelings of rejection and sorrow that came with it. The thought of inflicting his mom with those same feelings silently tore him apart. Shawn's gaze bounced around in a panic, realizing what he'd done, and the next moment he was sprinting into the house to find her. His dad's eyes widened as he watched him rip the garage door open and fly through the kitchen, not expecting his reaction. He slowly followed behind.

Shawn's shoes squeaked against the wood floor as he came to a clumsy stop in front of the study, where his mom sat at her computer. She looked at him with surprise as he gripped the doorway and stared at her, his face stricken with guilt. She slowly stood up from her chair as he approached her with half-raised arms. Her eyes curiously scaled him, wondering where his sudden behavior came from and what he would do.

"Yes?" She asked awkwardly.

But Shawn didn't answer. He bolted forward and engulfed her with his arms. Her eyes wandered the room as Shawn held her tightly, thrown off by his hug, and his dad quietly appeared in the doorway. When she saw him over Shawn's shoulder, he gave her the slightest smirk with a nod. She silently returned his look with a warm grin.

"Uh, mm," she cleared her throat, patting his back, "okay, Sweaty."

"Oh, sorry, Mom," Shawn released her, not realizing how sweaty he still was from mowing.

He held her arms in his grip. His eyes looked over her, wondering if she had somehow forgiven him over the past few hours.

"Mom, I'm such a-"

"Sshh," she shushed him quietly, delicately raising her hands to his cheeks, "no, you're not. You're a wonderful son, and I love you."

Shawn's worried expression slowly melted into a smirk of relief.

"But you have got to start letting other people care about you, Shawn—especially the people in this house. Okay?"

Shawn nodded, never wanting to treat his mom that way again.

"Okay," she grinned, looking him up and down, "now go take a shower or something. You're disgusting."

They both laughed with each other, causing his dad to smile as he walked back down the hall toward the kitchen, happy to hear everything was okay.

As expected, Kendall walked through the door around a quarter after seven in the evening. Shawn was stomping people on his fighting game, and he turned around to see her approaching with her bags.

"Hey," he mumbled, looking back at the TV.

"Hey," Kendall sighed, exhausted.

She walked past him and flopped into her usual spot. But instead of sinking into the couch, she scooted closer to him, looking around the house to ensure their parents were not nearby. Shawn noticed her scoping out the living room, causing him to look away from his game at her.

"They're upstairs," he mumbled, mashing buttons.

"Good," Kendall exhaled, grabbing his controller and dropping it on the table as she straddled him.

She pressed her mouth into his and kissed him deeply with her arms around his neck. Shawn was surprised by her sudden aggression, gripping her sides and melting from the taste of her mouth. Kendall clawed at his shirt, kissing him like they'd not seen each other for years. The strength of her grip and her agitated breathing told Shawn that she must have been irritated all day from his teasing that morning. When their mouths separated, Kendall was huffing for air, holding his face and staring into his eyes with a look of desperation. Shawn could feel himself growing painfully hard against her crotch as his nerves combusted from kissing her erotically. They panted at one another, ready to rip each other apart.

"Let's go have sex in the basement," Kendall whispered, breathing heavily.

"Hey- wait!" Shawn stuttered as Kendall tugged on his arm with both hands, pulling him off the couch.

"Come on!" She whined, dragging him to the basement door.

Shawn nervously peered at the steps leading upstairs, fearful one of their parents could come down at any moment. After today's events, he was more on edge than usual.

"Kendall..." Shawn mumbled, trying to slow her down.

She would not listen. Kendall swung the door open and dragged him down the steps, not letting go of his hand until they were in front of the couch. She threw her arms around him, pulling him in and kissing him aggressively. Shawn throbbed in his shorts, craving her body and overwhelmingly turned on by her desperation to have him. He gripped her sides, addicted to the taste of her mouth and the forbidden rush of their betrayal. But his mind couldn't stop revisiting today's events and the critical things they needed to discuss before going further.

"Kendall-" Shawn stumbled between smooches, trying to stop her.

"It's okay. They're not gonna come down here!" She panted at him, her hands frantically undoing his belt.

"Kendall, wait!" Shawn snapped, pulling away from her.

Her eyes widened with shock and confusion, not understanding why he didn't want to continue.

"What's wrong? You don't want to?" She asked, flustered.

"Yeah, of course I do," he said quietly, looking into her eyes, "but can we please talk for a second first?"

Kendall flopped onto the couch and exhaled hard with her hands covering her face.

"Sorry, I just..." She shook her head, sighing, "this was all I could think about today because of this morning, and I just- sorry. What's going on?"

Shawn sat beside her, hoping his halting her advances wouldn't ruin the mood entirely. He looked her over, wishing there had been a better way to initiate their talk. In truth, Shawn felt incredibly lucky that someone as perfect as Kendall wanted him so badly. But he knew some things needed ironed out before they could progress. After stabilizing herself, Kendall gave Shawn her full attention and waited for him to speak.

"When I called you this morning..." he began, "are you sure Mom hasn't said anything weird to you lately?"

Kendall's eyes sank to the ground, recalling their mom opening her door to check on her the night before, which was odd. She knew it was not unrelated to Shawn's talk with her that day.

"So... Yeah," Kendall answered hesitantly, looking back up at him, "someone opened my door last night to make sure I was in my room and not yours. I think it was Mom."

Shawn listened intently, his eyes curiously wandering, trying to figure out why their mom would feel the need to do that.

"Did she say anything?" He asked, looking into Kendall's eyes.

Kendall shook her head.

"She just peeked in at me and then left. It was weird. I don't think she knows I was still awake."

"Good thing you didn't stay in my room like I wanted you to..." Shawn mumbled, realizing how narrowly they had avoided another mistake.

"No kidding," Kendall answered, "but it's still weird. How come she came back to check? Was she, like, worried something weird was gonna happen?"

"I dunno," Shawn shrugged, "but something made her ask me if I've had any girls over lately. Why would she wanna know that?"

Kendall's eyes widened, and her expression firmed up.

"What did you tell her!?" Kendall panicked, leaning toward him on the couch.

Her response threw him off, instantly making Shawn worried that he had said the wrong thing to their mom.

"Um..." He nervously scratched his head, "I told her no...?"

Kendall's eyes wandered down to the couch, bouncing around in thought as she analyzed Shawn's interaction with their mom. Kendall was smart, and she knew their mom would not ask Shawn if he had girls over unless she was already certain he did. The question was, what gave him away? Kendall knew she hadn't left any of her belongings in his room, nor had their parents heard them having sex. It had been almost a year since Shawn had done anything with a girl in his room, so she knew whatever their mom saw was definitely from her. But what?

"What is it?" Shawn asked, alarmed by her expression.

Kendall looked back into his eyes, worried there may not be an easy way to throw their mom off after today.

"Look," Kendall answered, "Mom knows you've had a girl in your room. That much I'm certain of. She wouldn't ask unless she was already sure."

Shawn stared into her eyes, waiting for her to keep going.

"But you told her no," she continued, "so now she knows you're lying, and she's probably wondering who it was. What if she thinks it was me?"

"Shit..." Shawn whispered, closing his eyes and realizing his mistake, "I should've lied."

"It's too late for that," Kendall shook her head, "if Mom thinks we're fooling around, we have got to do something to keep her from investigating."

"Like what?" Shawn shrugged nervously.

Kendall chewed her lip as her gaze wandered, trying to think of a solution.

"I don't know," she sighed stressfully with her eyes closed.

Shawn reached forward and gently gripped the sides of her face. His warm touch instantly melted her stress away, making her wish they could disappear together instead of always hiding from everyone. Being with Shawn was the only thing that brought her true peace since they were children. He was her safe space, her best friend, and now her lover. Kendall exhaled, melting from his touch, not wanting to worry anymore about their situation.

"Hey," Shawn spoke softly, "it's okay. I didn't mean to make it sound like you have to be the brains of this whole operation. Let's forget about it for now."

A smile slowly formed on Kendall's face as she scaled him with her eyes, letting the tension evaporate from her nerves. Shawn had always been acutely aware of her feelings, and their chemistry allowed him to read her like a book most of the time.

"What's that face for?" Shawn chuckled, lowering his hands.

"How did I not know you were in love with me?" Kendall giggled, shaking her head.

"Because that's how scared I was of you finding out, Weirdo," Shawn laughed, "and I'd have gotten away with it, too!"

They broke into laughter as their faces came together. After a loving peck, Kendall delicately bit her lip, looking him up and down. Everything about being with Shawn kept her grounded and filled her with hope that things would be okay. His determination to love her against the rest of the world was unlike anything she had ever felt. As wrong as their relationship was, she felt so whole with her brother. Shawn's emotional instincts with her were as keen as his sexual ones, making Kendall even more certain they belonged together. It baffled her that she didn't see how perfect they were for each other sooner, wondering if wasting years of her life with Bradley somehow blinded her from it.

"I hate to say it, but I think we're going to need more than a couple of rules from now on," Kendall said, looking into his eyes.

"Funny. I was thinking the same thing," Shawn answered with a slight smirk.

"Tell you what," Kendall said, causing Shawn to perk up, "why don't I come to your room after they go to bed, and we can pick up where we left off?"

"You sure that's a good idea?" Shawn asked, nervously rubbing his neck.

"No," Kendall giggled, shaking her head, "it's a terrible idea, but I can't go another night without doing it. Please?"

"I've been getting really anxious to do it again, too," Shawn chuckled, thrilled to hear how badly Kendall wanted him.

"Why did the nicest dick on the planet have to be attached to my stupid brother?" Kendall asked with a sarcastically disappointed tone.

"On the planet!?" Shawn laughed with her, "I don't know about all that!"

He couldn't help but stare at her gorgeous eyes and perfect smile as Kendall laughed with him—those feelings of desperately wanting her had only amplified since they started sleeping together. It was as if being granted a taste of the forbidden had whetted his appetite even further. The taste of her lips and the feeling of her curves were unlike anything he had ever imagined. All he could think about was how Kendall's body felt made to be with him. Everything about her set him on fire, causing his body to ignite with lust and infatuation toward her. He knew they were an exact match, chemically, emotionally, and otherwise. There was no other explanation for the intensity of their connection.

Shawn looked into her encapsulating, light brown eyes, baffled by her beauty.

"How are you so perfect?" He mumbled, his eyes looking her up and down.

Kendall's smile grew as she raised her brow.

"Even after a shitty day at work?" She giggled snarkily.

"Are you kidding me?" He answered, "you could come home caked in body fluids, and I would still lick you clean!"

Kendall laughed hysterically, listening to him express his obsession with her in such a crude way.

"Well," she answered, gently tugging on his shirt near his collar, "I dunno about body fluids, but I'm sorta' crazy about you too."

"Promise?" Shawn asked with a warm grin.

Kendall raised her pinky and nodded with a smile. They locked pinkies and shared another kiss.

"You can lick me as clean as you want after they go to bed," she whispered outside his ear, their cheeks touching.

Shawn's expression suddenly firmed up. Kendall's teasing made him grow hard in his shorts again immediately, and she hadn't even touched him. Her voice and the smell of her hair drove him wild as she stood up from the couch to go back upstairs. His eyes couldn't help but wander down to her perfect ass as she began ascending the steps. It looked plump and smackable in her scrubs, and Shawn had brief thoughts of how many people must stare at it every day while she was at work. Kendall casually looked back and caught him staring. An erotic smirk formed on her face, letting him know she was well aware of how hot she was. Her confidence was intoxicatingly sexy.

"Oh my God..." Shawn sighed, shaking his head and fighting to keep his desire for her from burning out of control.

All he had to do was wait until the coast was clear. If he could make it until bedtime, they could finally have sex again. His boner nearly tore through his shorts, thinking about tasting Kendall and feeling her tight, wet insides gulping his loads down. Bedtime couldn't get here any sooner.

That night, they all ate together as a family. Shawn and their mom made potatoes dauphinoise, which they enjoyed preparing, while Kendall and their dad frenched and brazed lamb shanks in an herb garlic glaze. It was the first time in a while that they had all been so closely involved with dinner. Everyone laughed and told hilarious stories from years prior while they listened to classic pop music from the fifties. Their parents were not keen on Kendall's music, and they couldn't stand Shawn's. The upbeat music of the classic American diner era filled their kitchen with smiles and warm energy.

While everyone cooked, Shawn and Kendall could only exchange periodic glances at one another. After leaving the basement, they had briefly agreed to keep their distance until everyone went to bed that night. With their mom's suspected suspicion toward them, they couldn't afford to act in any way other than was expected. So they refrained from engaging each other and tried to be as normal as possible. It was the most functional family dinner they'd had in a while.

The evening quieted, and everyone was turning in for the night by eleven o'clock. Kendall had strategically pretended to go to bed early so their parents wouldn't get any ideas, and Shawn also made sure his dad saw him retreat to his room as they parted ways up the steps. They were taking every precaution possible to ensure their parents would have no reason to check on either of them.

Shawn sat at his desk, wanting a head start on a few work items for the next day before going to bed. He felt his nerves tightening, anticipating Kendall sneaking into his room. It had been almost two days since they had done anything, and both were getting irritated from the tension and teasing. Shawn had even refrained from masturbating so Kendall could have every last drop of him. He couldn't stop thinking about her eagerly working the cum out of him tonight. Not paying attention, his door suddenly opened, causing him to look away from his computer.

"Hey, Mr. Dance Moves," his mom greeted him, stepping into the room and closing the door behind her.

"Hey, Mom," Shawn looked back at his computer, slightly disappointed it wasn't Kendall.

"You're not seriously about to get wrapped up in a game this late, are you?" She asked, surprised.

"No," Shawn chuckled, shaking his head, "I'm just working on a couple of things due tomorrow before I fall asleep."

"Huh. Are you on the clock?" She asked, crossing her arms.

Shawn gave her a dry look, knowing she knew the answer to her question because Shawn was prone to occasionally working off the clock from time to time. He enjoyed his job, so it never felt like extra work. But he knew he was behind because of how his mind spiraled that day.

"Don't give me that look, mister!" She grinned, "just because you can walk five feet to work doesn't mean you should work for free."

"Is that what you came in here to tell me?" Shawn asked with a condescending smirk as he continued typing, not intending to stop.

She smiled at him with a raised eyebrow, finding his attitude amusing.

"No, smartass," she answered playfully, "I came in here to say thanks for knocking out the dishes. You didn't have to do all that by yourself."

"Bah, it didn't take long. No worries," Shawn answered casually.

His mom silently analyzed him for a moment, still trying to figure out what may have been bothering him lately.

"Don't bite my head off," she said, "but are you feeling okay?"

"Yeah, Mom," Shawn answered straightly, knowing he fully deserved her defensive prefix after today.

"Alright, I'll stop there," she answered with a slight smirk, not wanting a repeat of that morning, "good night, Honey," she said as she opened the door to leave.

"Mom-" Shawn stumbled before she shut the door.

She stood in the doorway, looking back at him and waiting for him to speak. Shawn spun in his chair to face her, sighing stressfully through his nose. She stared silently at him, unsure what he would say. Shawn knew this was his only opportunity to fabricate something that would throw her off their trail.

"I'm sorry I acted like that..." He mumbled, still feeling awful about how he had treated her earlier, "I don't wanna push you away. It's just that..."

His mom gently stepped back into the room to listen to him. She refrained from interrupting, not wanting to mess up her first shot at getting him to open up in years.

"I was seeing this girl," Shawn continued bashfully, finally looking into her eyes, "I thought it was going okay, and suddenly it was over. I guess I'm a little more upset about it than I thought, ya know?"

"Oh, Shawn," she whispered with a troubled face, approaching him.

His mom wrapped her arms around his head, holding him tightly against her and running her hand through his hair.

"I'm sorry it didn't work out, Honey," she quietly consoled him.

Shawn felt his soul descend into the muck as he lied to his mom. But he knew this was the only way to end her suspicions, if any.

"You must've really liked her, huh?" She asked, holding his head and playing with his hair.

"I guess you could say that..." Shawn mumbled, not wanting to overact.

She finally released him and took a step back.

"So that explains the hair I found on your bed," she giggled.

Shawn's gaze shot over to the bed, then back to his mom.

"There was hair in my bed?" He mumbled with a goofy, confused look.

"Uh-huh!" She laughed, playfully smacking his arm, "you think your mom doesn't know what's going on around here, Kiddo?"
