Amazing! (Brilliant, wonderful... I could go on!) You have such a beauty of phrase and use each word so well. Kudos.
It was considered beneath a Samurai to deal with money, so he wouldn't bargain, shop, make business deals, etc. His wife would do all of those things, INCLUDING, bargaining with and arranging for his mistresses.
It was good to be a samurai. Well, until a sword went through your belly, but otherwise a damn good life.
Unexpected and brilliant. The glossary you provided made the story that much better. This would not be a LW to get on the wrong side off. Great story!
What a powerful punch, so compactly crafted and neatly packaged. The story as well as the wife. A stunning piece of wordsmanship. Thank you.
Pretty Sweet!!!
Now THAT"S a Loving Wife!
Thanks for sharing, I always enjoy your stories.
I have no idea why but that was the most affecting 750 project I’ve read, treachery betrayal intrigue defended against by love honour and a kick ass wife.
Brilliant.
Nice, no infidelity at all in this one. In fact, just the opposite. A true loving wife always has your back.
5/5
I agree with, that was a strangely refreshing story - a loving wife in every way. No need for any more, just a vignette detailing a day in the life..
If I could do in 7500 words what you do in 750 words, I'd be thrilled. 5 stars! :)
A true loving wife, who watches over a slumbering husband. An added feature in this marriage she’s a kick ass mother eagle when protecting her mate.
Some days in life you stumble across a hidden gem that makes you smile. Makes you feel good.
Today we are blessed.
This is only my opinion but I really don't like these 750 word projects. To me it's like a snapshot from a wider story, it's like reading a preview of a story but never getting to read the full work and it leaves me frustrated. Don't get me wrong, this is written really well and it's interesting, but to me that's even more annoying as I want to explore more of the tale. Alas, there is no more.
I'll be honest and say that whenever I usually see a "750 word project" tag, I try to avoid it and just close the tab. With good writers though, I'll sometimes bite the bullet and go for it. More often than not, I'm left feeling a little unfulfilled though and it puts me off. Again, just my personal opinion.
Nothing like what I expect in a LW story, after all there was a loving wife!!
Enjoyed it.
seems to me.....he found one
The vivid imagery in such a few words let me picture the story. I love her doubt regarding her marriage while being a confident and capable woman, her husband’s supportive summary of their relationship is perfect. This gave the main character a depth despite it being such a short story. Another great story from you, thank you.
Interesting you did not use this term to describe the maid, or indeed what she was. The reference regarding the maid not being allowed to scream or give warning was subtle, but an effective hint.
I meant 5-stars & Favorite
I would read a lot more about these people. Well done story in 750 words.
Now That's a Loving Wife. Willing, and capable of killing for her Husband, and family.
This was a snapshot, a polaroid of a moment. It's just an image, but it is so powerful at the same time. It's like a pic of the Twin Towers as a plane hits, or Kennedy in the back of the car, or the little burned Vietnamese girl running. They carry such a lot of weight for something so small.
Excellent story, sir. 5*
Not just over the fence - this one is out of the park, denting some cars in the parking lot. Thanks!
SleeperyJim's comment reinforces a thought that has been rattling around in my brain pan. So often we see commenters whining about the failure to FTDS, demanding more details. Folks, the opposite to a full life biography (BTW, which only completes one person's story) is a picture. These Lit short stories are more like a film clip. The 750s might be a vignette. So, folks. Enjoy the snapshot and quitchurbitchin you too-lazy-to-write-your-own whiners.
Keep 'em comin'.
What a wonderful story, not your usual literature mundane rubbish, pure quality
Had to read it twice. First for the vocabulary and flavor.
Again for the love story.
Amazing. This reminded me of haiku, expressing so much with a minimum of words. Might be my favorite loving wives story.
