Why only Russian dialog?

Are you writing exclusively for a Russian-speaking readership? If that's the case, why not put the whole thing in Russian?

I opted out at the second whole paragraph of Russian. It's not that I have anything against the language; I actually took a semester or two of Russian in school. But It's far from transparent for me, so everything you put in dialog is lost to me.

I hope that there are enough Russian readers to make it worth your while.

GimletEdge,

This story was written in English, but the dialogue was translated as most of the characters in it are Russian. I will be submitting another version of it, with the dialogue in English, as we've had a few people saying something about the Russian dialogue since we put it up on another site (it was submitted here at the same time that we posted it on our other site).

We've started on the next part of the story, where not all the characters are Russian, so more of the dialogue is going to remain in English, though we will still put a few words in Russian, which I'm going to keep that in mind for this one when I send it over to our editor this weekend. The English version should make it better for a lot of folks.

We really appreciate your comments and, hopefully, we'll draw you in with the English version :)

Strange

I used Google translate and it detected hardly no russian language. In fact, it detected swahili but NONE of what was supposed to be in Russian was convertable to english as they were not words

sexynoisesturnmeon,

The translator we used is not a Google translator. It's here: http://translation2.paralink.com/translations.asp , and when I got the story translated back to English to send to our editor so I can post the full English version, I had to click the box for decode. I put in Russian to English and clicked Decode. But I should have the story back from my editor in the next couple days, and then resubmitted here the day I get it back. The only thing left in Russian were endearments, since as both Nicolai and Sonja are Russian, they would be more comfortable saying "my love", "my darling" and "my sweet" in Russian
