While it made for a good plot twist this widening of the drugged ones circle raised the long term likelihood for disaster. Especially after all seniors graduate ... loose lips from drunk students are likely to come back to bite Mr C.

Well, I’ve been reading this series largely as a lark. I taught HS English for many years and I’ve been chuckling through this. I was thinking about quitting - until this chapter.

I taught mostly honors and AP classes in an upscale suburb, but the penance for that lush assignment was also teaching at least one section of a remedial English class. We called them “English Skills”, but when I took over the Senior version of the class from a retiring teacher he called it “English for Felons”, since at least one guy every year wound up in jail.

The girls in that class were often the Abbie/Taylor types, and while often objectively attractive, I found them banal and boring.

In my AP level classes, however, every 3-4 years I’d fall madly and platonically in love with a Tabitha. Some were quite attractive, while others were merely plain, but their potential was intoxicating.

Like any teacher worth his salt, I never did anything to further that attraction. But, years later they remain in my memory as the pinnacle of attainment.
