Creative and satisfying. I wish I could find a story that yours resembles. Thanks for your stimulating one and your others. The story I would like to find involves

a man who was about to jump off a bridge but stopped when he saw a young woman who was about to do the same. He talked her out of it and they formed a bond. I think the title was something like: "Until Dawn."

Why was he wanting to suicide?

There have been a number of "going to jump off a bridge" themed stories, including the famous Christmas movie with Jimmy Stewart ("It's a Wonderful Life").

As to his motivation, if you read the story, he explained that it was all getting to him. He recently lost his mother, followed by his brother. His job was about to go away. Basically he was feeling like he couldn't deal with his life any more.
