This is a really strong start to a story. In media res, enough information to hint at a vastly larger and more complex scenario, rich in sensory details, quickly hot.

As something of a knight myself, interested to learn more about Balin's code.

Sir Bedivere, I very much hope you have plenty more where this came from.
