The Distraction

Taking a deep breath, the beautiful fiancée smiled up at him and then tentatively leaned forward, parting her lips just enough to fit the tip of one finger into her mouth. Flicking her tongue she licked a little of the batter off Jaxon's hand and then leaned back, still smiling.

"Mine will be worth it later. I promise." Alyssa said, glancing up at Jacob surreptitiously to see if she could tell if he had bought her anything for Jaxon or not. Either way she had to think of something!

"And I guarantee you'll love mine. But it won't work until later." Jacob chimed in and Jaxon shrugged resignedly.

"Fine! Fine. I'll wait. But they better be worth it!" Jaxon replied and Alyssa laughed softly.

"You two go ahead. I've got some things to do." Jaxon replied as he finished drying up and began putting things away again.

"Alright, you enjoy your birthday. Are you going out today?" Jacob asked and Jax shook his head.

"Not today. I thought a quiet day in would be fun. So it looks like you two are stuck with me!" Jaxon answered and Jacob smiled a smile that Alyssa knew was fake. It meant setting up for the party would be more difficult with Jaxon around all day. But he had come this far. He would not stop now.

And so the three of them went their separate ways, with Jacob and Alyssa going in to the lounge to watch television and Jaxon heading upstairs to his room. "So what do you want me to do?" She asked preparedly, straightening her back as she got ready to get busy.
