Living in a small town not much ever happened, it was always the usual, there was never anything that would be in the news making it hard for the local paper. I was in the General Store picking up a few items I needed for the house. I knew most of the people in this town, I had grown up here so I kept the family home and used it as cottage.

Our family home was on lake front property, it had amazing views, we had our own dock, with a large boat for fishing. The house was massive, five huge bedrooms, it being only myself I had more room than I could ever use. I kept the house in its original condition, all of it decorated in the era of the early seventies, I upgraded the kitchen appliances and renovated the bathrooms.

I got all the groceries and a few movies to watch as I did not have cable out in this neck of the woods yet. I was in line chatting with a neighbor from up the road when a man burst in to the store, gun in hand. I assumed it was all a hoax, some kind of joke, he was playing some stupid prank or game, but within a few moments it was clear this man meant business.

Looking at his hanky covered face, his black cowboy hat, the plaid shirt, the well worn jeans, he looked familiar somehow, the eyes, the look, the way he moved, the way he walked. Could it be Steve from school, he gave me a weird look like why was I in this store right now. We all put our hands up he went to the checkout and demanded money from the young girl working the till.

I lowered my hands and looked a little closer at the guy doing the robbery, I saw the one thing that assured me it was him. A birth mark on the back of his neck.

"Steve is that you? Why are you doing this man?"

He turned to me pointing the gun at me.

"Shut up you don't know me."

"Steve come on man I know you from high school, you and I are neighbors, you do not want to do this please."

"Shut up Billy, you don't know me or my life, you live in a big house on the lake, you have your life in the city. Not all of us were as lucky as you were and are, so don't be trying to tell me what I should be doing and what I should not."

I walked towards him, my hands partially up.

"Steve man you will go to jail for this, your a good man, you had some bad breaks but come on man put the gun down. Steve give me the gun."

Steve looked at me, he handed me the gun and started to cry, I pulled him in to me and handed the gun to the store owner. This being a small town the owner decided not to call the police, Steve would come with me to my place. We all knew he had been through a lot of pain and heartache. I paid for my purchases and Steve and I got in my car.

Steve still was in tears as we pulled away, he finally got himself back to normal when we pulled in my driveway. Steve and I unloaded the car, we walked in the house.

"Man is this a big house Billy, I never knew how huge this place really was."

"For one person to be in this place alone and only on weekends and holidays seems a little crazy but I will never get anything for it, it being in a small place like this, better I keep it and use it as a cottage."

"Listen Billy about me holding up the General Store, I'm broke, jobless, homeless. I will be sleeping in my dam truck, with fall upon us I can't realistically stay in my truck all winter."

"Breaking the law is never the solution, you were very lucky Tom did not call the police on you, but we all know you and the things you and your family have been through. You will stay here with me, you could have come to see me in the first place."

"I know Billy you're a good man, I did not want to have to beg for help."

I pulled him in for a hug and held him, he started to cry again, all the raw emotions were coming to the surface. Steve's family had been through a lot in the last year, his parents killed in a car accident, his little brother committed suicide, his sister missing for three years now.

Steve's parents did not own their home anymore, they had lost it due to late mortgage payments, the bank renting the house out to them to keep it in livable condition. When his parents died the bank sold the house leaving Steve homeless, and without work. His parents home being a farm, Steve tended the horses they had, did odd jobs to keep food on the table. Steve was your typical farm hand type guy, straight, rugged, and so very sexy.

"Steve you will be fine, you will stay here with me, we can figure something out, so now all you need to do is pick a bedroom, I do have three empty ones."

I showed Steve the house, he asked to see my room, I took the master when I took over the house, it was the only room I redecorated. He and I would have lunch then take a boat ride on the lake, do a little fishing, have a nice relaxing day off.

Steve seemed to be bothered by something, I could not pinpoint what it was but he seemed worried about something. I finally asked him what was going on.

"Steve man what's wrong? Are you okay?"

"Yeah Billy just wondering how long I can stay with you in your big house is all?"

"Steve you are welcome to stay as long as you like, the place is empty when I am gone I would be glad to have you stay here while I am in the city but if you want to come to the city with me you are also welcome to do that as well."

"Really Billy I can stay in your house here? Not sure I would want to come to the city, I have never been and being honest I prefer to stay in town here."

I could not for the life of me imagine living out here full time, spending time away from work and the city was fine but I needed all the amenities the city has, small town life just was not for me. Steve and I caught four fish between us so it would be a fish fry tonight. Steve was a wiz at filleting fish I would prep homemade fries and coleslaw to go along with the fresh fish.

Steve and I ate way to much each, got it all cleaned up then sat and watched a movie, I was tired so I decided to head off to bed. He seemed distracted all through the movie, I got up and asked him to shut it all off, he shut the lights and came up the stairs behind me. He was about to follow me to my room, I turned to him.

"Steve what are you doing? You have your own room, you do not have to sleep with me."

"Billy I thought cause you are letting me stay here I had to sleep with you, and you know do things for you."

"Steve you only have to do what you want to do, this is now your home, make yourself comfortable, your safe here and you do not have to do anything to stay here."

I could see the relief in his face, but at the same time there seemed to be some disappointment as well. I went to bed I always keep my door open, I heard Steve in the washroom peeing he too kept the door open as well, I waited for the light to go out so I could go in and brush and pee as well. I told Steve if he needed a toothbrush I had many new ones if he needed one.

Steve came to the bathroom door with only white briefs on, he had an impressive bulge in his underwear, not a porn star mind you but a nice looking cock by the looks of it. Steve had a gorgeous body, hairy chest, muscular arms, tattoos, a perfect V shaped torso, his perfect ass, to his large thighs, his full beard, the way he walked, the way he talked, he made you hard just listening to his voice.
