I said, "All that talk helped, but it also took a lot of time. I'm willing, but I'm going to really want a nap tomorrow. I think the answer is 'probably,' though. And I'm afraid I think another trip to the lavatory is a good idea."

So we went back again, then brushed our teeth and got undressed. We briefly discussed the schedule for the morning, and she set her alarm. She set it for sex, not for sleep—allowing for something quick, but a lot more than a quickie, if we really got going.

So we didn't hurry through anything at that point. When we got far enough along, I said, "Consider yourself warned. I'm going to try to tease you the way I did with Ellen, assuming you can get close enough at all. But let's see if I can't get you to come, first." She told me there wouldn't be any problem with that part, and she was right. She never was as quickly aroused as Ellen seemed to be routinely, but she was pretty close when I started on her down there, and when she came she didn't scream or anything, but she was a lot louder than the time we had anal sex and she came.

I kept on, but I did tease. And after a while, she was pleading. "Phil, please, keep going. Just come in now. Don't stop like that." But I could really see that each peak, just before I would back off, really was higher than the previous one, and that as she came down it was almost as if she had come, in some ways. Remembering just how thoroughly frustrated Sam had gotten me, about the fourth time I did push ahead until she came, and she was much louder. Then I went in, and she had three orgasms inside maybe five minutes. I came on the last one.

Deedee didn't really come down as fast as I deflated. She kissed me with great passion for quite a while, but finally she let me get off her, and we went to sleep.

Sunday morning I managed to sleep until Deedee's alarm went off before my bladder was insistent enough to wake me. She turned it off, and we both got out of bed. I gave her a quick kiss, not much more than a peck, and said, "I'm afraid I need to go straight to the lavatory. Should I go on ahead?" She pulled on a robe and made sure her key was with her, and we went. I pushed the pace down the hall a little.

When we got back, we shaved and then quickly got back in bed. We made love in the time we had, but not rushing, either. It was wonderful for me, and I thought for her. As we got dressed, she told me, "Whenever you do settle down with one woman, there's something you should think about. All the attention you gave my pussy was truly wonderful, but I think if you did that much every night, I'd soon be so tender I couldn't stand to be touched any more. Just one more thing to watch for and ask about." I resolved to ask Sam about this.

I wasn't sure how fast Deedee ran, except that it was faster than I could. I was pretty sure she ran most mornings, and I was always more aware of those Jenny and I overtook than those overtaking us. We were there just a couple of minutes early, and that might have been the day I spoke to Miss Milliken to thank her for passing the word that I couldn't afford any trysts with anyone but students any more. That was a good time for the word "tryst," since those were indeed supposed to be discreet. I told her I'd gotten plenty of comments from the kitchen staff about yesterday's public display, some apparently referring also to my times with her and the others, but none asking for a chance, even indirectly.

She said, "I'm glad. Except, would it be OK if Miss Milliken goes away for maybe a minute and Ginny gets a kiss? Just this once? Please?"

I looked at Deedee for a moment, and told her, "This is completely off the record. Please." I looked both ways, but mostly down the hall, then pulled, well, Ginny up to a stand and gave her a nice kiss, but not as long as a minute. When I stepped back, I saw Sam and Jenny both coming up the hall.

When they came past the monitor's desk, I told them, "That was a one-time thing, by special request." They looked at Deedee, who nodded. Ellen came hurrying up, and we all went out to run. As we were stretching, Deedee said, "Phil and I didn't get enough sleep last night. Is it OK if he takes a nap with me after lunch? And it might be longer than the one he had yesterday, I think."

They all looked at her, and at each other. Sam said, "I could use a nap myself, probably. Take him with my blessing, anyway." I looked at her in a bit of surprise, and she said, "Tell you later." The others all said that it was fine with them.

As we all started off, it was obvious that Deedee was much faster than anyone except Ellen. The two of them began running together, talking, but later I saw that they had separated, Ellen running ahead.

I ran with Jenny, with Sam falling behind us, as usual. We ran for a way without talking. Eventually Jenny said, "I'm sorry. You told me you had an offer of a substitute running partner, when—when I abandoned you."

I looked at her, and she looked troubled. I said, "Are you going to be OK? We don't have to talk about this, now or ever."

"Running partner, you're right, but I think that's OK. We can't always avoid mentioning how I treated you, and that's what hurts right now. And you've forgiven me, so I shouldn't feel this way, but I do.

"And I want to discuss this. You didn't say who she was. Or he, but I thought you said she. Do you mind telling me?"

"Not at all, if you really want to know. And we never tried it, so I don't know whether it would work. From the game, I know she's a pretty good match, but she might be a bit faster. Or, now, a bit slower. No way to tell whether it would work except to just run laps with her. You're sure you want to know?"

"I'm sure."

"Kitty Morris. As I said, I don't know for sure. I don't see her out here very often, today for example, so that might be a problem, too.

"I see her in the showers almost every day, so I think she's out here. I'd guess she starts later or something, and that she's a close enough match that she never catches up to us and we never catch up to her, but I don't know. But here it is: would you like to invite her to run with us and find out?"

"Um. Not without more information. Like, are you abandoning me again after all?"

"No. And that would hurt if it weren't a reasonable and obvious question. I might think of abandoning you to sleep in, I suppose, except that I think the other way around would be more likely. And I value the time with you, way more than I did before this past week. I thought that the right partner might help us both to push a little more, for one thing."

"Or drag us back a little. We would need to see. I would have needed to see, if she and I had decided to give it a try."

"And it would be a backup if one of us is sick, say. And now that I know who she is, I'll say that you're not short of girls for sex, but she's one I'd be happy to see on your list. They're all nice, though, she's hardly unique in that. And maybe it's just PMS talking—or whatever hormonal mood swings. I don't know." She looked across the large circle the mowed course made, and suddenly pointed. "There she is, in fact, see? Just came out from behind all those trees and bushes."

"I'll have to take your word for it. Either you're wrong or your eyes are way better than mine. I can barely see that there are people over there, in no better light than this. If you're right that she's usually out here, then she's likely a very good match, since I almost never see her. We don't pass her, she doesn't pass us.

"Are you serious about adding another running partner? I'm still doubtful, myself, but. Um. I'd love to have her running with us, I just question whether it's a good idea."

"Phil, even for sex we haven't been back together—No. That's not a fair way to put it. I haven't been back with you long enough to see whether it really will work. You were here, I was the one who left, and saying we're back together makes it sound like we were both to blame, and it was all me. I'm determined not to do anything like that again, to anyone, ever—but most definitely not to you. I mean to make it all work, and I hope I can and do. But I promise, absolutely, if there are problems I will talk about them before they get to be big ones. If things get to the point where we're no longer partners, I will be available to talk about it if you will. I will never, ever again go behind your back.

"But even though it means you're not available all that much, I am happy to have Sam and Ellen as partners—your partners, but mine, too. I can't believe they were willing to accept me, but they were.

"So if another running partner would help, I'm for it."

"OK. We'll have to ask her, and I think she'll be a little afraid of it. And it will have to be as a test, just whether the running part will work. If we can't run at a good speed for her, it's out."

We stopped a little early, a whole lap early, really. Mostly, you had to run whole laps. You couldn't run against traffic. Well, if you found you were out of time when you were much less than half a lap out, you could get off the course and run back—the grass is mowed somewhat wider than the ropes—but it was pretty rare for someone to do that.

We had walked the last bit, and we waited. Kitty came in before any of the others, but she probably had a lot of time to spare. Unless someone was waiting for her, or she was way behind on something. So we beckoned her over to us.

"Phil, O'Malley, I'm so glad to see you two together. And I know it's not just running, and I'm so glad!" Ordinarily I would have hugged her, but she knew as well as I did why I didn't. We were both sweating heavily and very hot, she far more than I.

I looked at Jenny and waited. When she realized I was leaving this to her, she said, "Morris, may I please call you Kitty? There's another Morris here." When Kitty said, "Please do, Jenny," she said, "Thank you. Phil told me that when I, I, I dumped him the way I did, you offered to be his running partner if we didn't work it out, at least if you matched as closely as it seems. And you need to know that the break was all my fault, and I hope we're permanently back together. For the rest of the year I mean, of course.

"But I know he likes you a lot. And I would consider it a huge favor if you would run with us tomorrow, to see how our regular speeds do fit. And if they do, then at least consider running with us most days.

"I see you in the showers enough to think you are out here most every day, that we just don't see you running because you do go the same pace we do. We meet at 5:30, and I don't know just when you start. I doubt we can be earlier, consistently, and if that's too early for you I think that also means it won't work, unless you wait for us to come around. But if that's OK for you, it would be a favor to me if you would join us."

"I'd love to. If you're really sure—I mean—look, I love Phil too. If he ever asks me for sex, or a whole night, I'll do it in a minute. Is that really a good thing in this case? And Phil hasn't said a word, either."

I said, "Jenny was the one who suggested this, and I've let her ask. I would love for you to. I hope she understands that this means you and I sometimes are going to make love, crowding her a little more. Almost for sure, anyway. You should have been on my list, anyway."

"I think I've watched you more than you've watched me. Well, there are other people who run with partners, but not that many, so it's easier to spot you and keep track of you than me. And if anything, I use you to check my speed. I usually know how much ahead of me you are, and I keep it that way. There was a time very recently when you sped up, and I realized I should have done the same already. So I'm sure it will work, that way. So please, if you're sure, tomorrow at 5:30."

"We try to get to the door area a few minutes early, and we'll wait for, oh, maybe up to five minutes, but it's never that long, if someone's late. Oh, I should say, we meet with Phil's other partners, Ellen Chan and Sam Bruja. And sometimes whoever he may have spent the night with. We don't all run together because we can't. We usually wait for the others at the end, which means we may stop up to a whole lap early, the way we did this time to be able to catch you. Someone does, anyway.

"And Phil usually showers with whoever he's spent the night with, whether or not she runs."

Kitty grinned big. "I know that much! I've seen it enough. I think everyone's seen."

"Probably not this week, though, after today."

"Um, Jenny, I'm hoping to. No quickies against the wall, but I'll enjoy looking. And maybe a little washing even. But that's up to the girls in question, yes."

"As long as I get my chance, then."

By this time all the others had come in, and we all started walking in. I went off with Deedee to her room, the rest to their own rooms. We collected stuff and kind of hurried to the shower. We washed other pretty much without much sensuality, except the erogenous zones, and I noticed this with a pang of regret. But time was a factor. When we were done washing, I said, "Is this still OK with you? And if so, do you want to say anything about how we do it?"

She told me, "You bet I do! And there's no hiding that you do too! I know, you really mean that—if I said right now I didn't want to, we'd dry off and get dressed and go back, with you just the way you are. But I sure do.

"As for procedure, I've seen how you've done it before, and I'd love for you to do that with me. Please! And thank you for asking me!"

So she backed up to the wall, and I went in and then picked her up. She was plenty turned on, it seemed, she came well before I was ready to, and then came again when I did. I knew Deedee wasn't always very loud, but she had been the night before. I figured that had been for Barbara's sake, but I thought there in the shower it was for my sake. My reputation.

We washed quickly in spots, then dried off and got dressed and went back to her room. There, she unwrapped a tampon and put it in. I watched with interest, never having seen this before. She pulled her panties and shorts back up, then washed her hands and came and kissed me. "It probably won't start all that soon, and with the pill there's really not all that much, but I'd rather be ready. Anyway, thank you, this has been wonderful for me. Some of it too quick, but even that part was amazing."

As we walked hand in hand down the hall, I said, "Don't forget, nap after lunch."

"I'm looking forward to it! I wish it could be more, yes, but I'll appreciate that so much."

We were a few minutes early for serving. The monitor at the entrance to the girls' wing said, "Morris, a moment please." So we went over to her.

"You're checked out, that's fine. But I have a message for you. Mr. Miles would like to see you in his office as soon after breakfast as you can reasonably get over there. He said that, and then said to tell you it's not as urgent as that makes it sound, but he needs to discuss something with you."

"Thank you. I don't know your procedures, but if you're supposed to let him know, tell him I'll try to be reasonably prompt."

"Thank you, Morris. Enjoy your breakfast."

Jenny had come up in the middle of this exchange, so I repeated the original message to her. The signal sounded, and we all went off after food. Sam came hurrying up a few minutes later to get hers.

We sat as we usually had been lately, Sam on my right, Ellen (Chan) on my left, Jenny beyond her, Deedee and Ellen Manning flanking them. I suddenly found this kind of strange, as Deedee and Ellen were such close friends. I made a point of going over to give Ellen a hug before I sat down and started eating, thanking her for her part in a very memorable night.

And Nancy and Barbara came by, loaded down, for Barbara to say to Deedee that she had heard it was quite a good night. She said this plenty loud enough for me to hear, and thus for probably at least half the table. She referred to the shower, too. I hadn't noticed her there, but it was a big room. I told Sam, Ellen and Ellen what the monitor had said, trying to sound a little worried.

Sam said innocently, "You haven't been sassing Ms. Miller again, have you?"

"Not that I know of. I'll find out what it is when I get there, I guess."

Scoops of ice cream on my waffles, again, I discovered. I consoled myself that it probably wasn't that much more fattening than the usual toppings. And it was really good. I could only assume that it was thanks for the entertainment value of my time with Ellen the day before. Unless, I supposed, Miss Milliken had somehow put someone up to it. It seemed an extravagant reward for one quick kiss, though.

I did give Ellen—um, well, all five girls—a kiss and hug when I'd cleared my detritus plus some other people's odds and ends. I said to Deedee, "After lunch, then." I swung by the lavatory—boys' side, obviously—and then headed off to the staff offices.

The door monitor buzzed me in, his phone already in his hand as he told Mr. Miles I'd arrived. I went on to his office. The monitor told me the number, but I already knew that office.

Mr. Miles rose and shook my hand when I entered. I was always startled at this, but he often shook my hand when I arrived or left. None of the instructional staff did this, to any students as far as I knew. The closest I'd come to it otherwise was on my first meeting with Mrs. Lanigan, when she had had me kiss her cheek, and that had clearly been a completely special case.

Mr. Miles waved me to a chair across his desk from him. A moment later, Ms. Miller came in from her office, through the connecting door, and I suddenly saw something I had missed all along. Ms. Miller's talents at acting, her use of them to communicate with me, even her extreme self-control—when she chose to exercise it—when she was in the throes of an orgasm. I suddenly realized that she was also part of security, possibly Mr. Miles's second, assuming I was correct about his own position. Those weren't skills anyone needed to be a gym teacher. She said hello, and I answered politely.

I apparently was not as good as either of them at keeping a straight face. Mr. Miles looked at Ms. Miller and said, "I told you he would figure it out by himself, Mary." He went on to me, "Mrs. Lanigan said she had already raised this with you, Morris. But we need to talk about it.

"Normally, this conversation would be quite a bit vaguer, less specific. Mrs. Lanigan jumped the gun, and you made it clear that you had deduced more than most people. Apparently she had expected you to, and that expectation was justified. Moreover, you put yourself into our business on at least three occasions. That is certainly not a complaint. This was greatly to our benefit.

"At any rate, please keep the details of what we tell you confidential, even from whichever of your young ladies you've already spoken to about it.

"So. Yes, security is our main concern, far more than physical education. And in fact, almost everyone on the staff occasionally is involved in at least a minor capacity. We are responsible for the safety of everyone here, for seeing to it that boats and aircraft don't land here, and for protecting our political relations with various countries, particularly the US. There are those in positions of power or influence who resent us or object to elements of what we teach, and who would like to destroy us, as an institution, or else control us and shape us according to their own ideas. Some of these object to no more than our providing a broad and deep education, especially in an accelerated form, as they have an interest in seeing that the American public is generally ignorant of history and civics, and other subjects as well. They wish to present only facts compatible with their own ideas and programs, and to see that nothing is learned which might upset those.
