This is my story from my original idea more than 20 years ago. I always considered them staying together, but maybe this final story has too much maudlin sentimentality. Oh well, that's my romantic vein.

I knew a married couple, that took in the wife's ex-husband when he was terminally ill. They divorced amicable 25 years before but were friends all those years. The ex-husband lost his second wife together with their child in childbirth and never had a third lasting relationship. The ex-husband lived with the couple for about six months until his death. This was the basis for my story all along. I don't know if there was sex with the ex, but for this story it is my artistic license, after all we are on an erotic site.

I'm a foster child since I'm four years old. My family for more then 40 years consists of my foster parents with all the uncles and aunts, my biological mother with all the uncles and aunts, my (not biological) brother who was adopted by my foster parents when he was a baby and my (half)sister (same biological mother). I had several discussions about adoption and foster care, so I know what I'm talking about. I even had a discussion many years ago with a guy who said he could never accept a woman with children from a previous relationship. Well, today this guy is about 40, single and not really a hound dog.
I've read a lot of stories, where the wife becomes pregnant by the lover and the husband finds out. It is often written that the husband should accept it like any other adoption. THAT'S BULLSHIT. There is a great difference between starting a relationship with a woman who has already a child with - or is just pregnant from - a former lover/husband and having a relationship with a woman who gets pregnant during this relationship by another man! That's the reason for the small psychological intermezzo between Michelle and Susan.
I don't say you can't accept a child conceived during the relationship from a third party, and it doesn't automatically mean a man accepting such a child and staying in the relationship is a wimp. I just want to say, that there have to be considered a lot of different circumstances. And there are cases where a husband accepting such a relationship can be proud of himself without feeling like a wimp.
Of course, that excludes real cuckold-stories where the husband really gets off by his wife having children from other men. That's a fetish I do not understand.

Anonymous4 months agoCrazy. Why would the husband not confront? Why let it grow to full emotional attachment. Sounds like was several days a week. Huh? If he is too pissed or craven to confront, then split them. Anonymous air drop to Bud's wife. Scare his wife with indirect comments. Pay someone to encounter them. There atw oodles of ways to turn off the affair. What was being with Michelle so important right away? Then confront, file fir separation, then screw Michelle without worry. Virtually all men in such a situation will not share, especially as he and his wife were drifting apart. Sounds like the sex with Bud started off mediocre and was inferior to Andy but it grew over time as they f$cked over a year. I get the symmetry angle, but don't see it getting to that point. Not remotely realistic. But it is fiction. And holding back even after DNA test? Really?
Anonymous7 months agoSorry but this does not seem realistic. Andy finds out his wife is having a torrid, every work day, sexual affair with Bud and does nothing to confront or break it up. Instead Michelle convinces him to have what starts out as a revenge affair but escalates to a full bloen romantic and sexual affair to his wife's adulterous affair also becoming emotional and romantic, as their own sex life slowly dwindles and sputters out. Sure file a separation and start proceedings for a divorce and move in with Michelle and try dating. Maybe it works but sounds like it would. They had no idea cancer was coming down the line a 5-6 years later. I get that the author wanted a set of certain circumstances with the symmetry of the two kids Donny and Julia, but seems awfully contrived. And yes they all somehow reconcile. How nice. And to the previous commenter about lack of standard tropes in LW stories. Fair. But you missed the big one, her affair went on for like 9 months and built to a crescendo of sex and emotions and romance that was eroding her own marriage and she had no clue, nor rhat he was spending so much time with Michelle. Yes he sunk to her level. My point is that a revenge tryst might be one thing, but waiting for his wife to have her epiphany after some 8-9 months of being more and more with Bud not just in frequency but in passion, intimacy and emotional feelings is just absolute balderdash. Whether he woukd be getting some on the side or not with Michelle, his wife's affair woukd be emotionally crippling to him, and if he had a shred of self respect, he would confront her (earlier the better) and at least file for separation, if not divorce (latter more likely) as they had no kids (she got pregnant and learned of it 2 months after her affair with Bud ended), and he coukd decide what to do with his life. Reconciliation would be unlikely if not DOA, but at least he coukd have agency and choose. Waiting for her to end it while he pursued a full blown affair with Michelle is nonsensical. File and then see Michelle. Easy. Clean. Realistic. Also when he got DNA test from Donny and confirmed not his, why after all the lies and disrespect (both sides) woukd he want to stay in that marriage. Again unrealistic and contrived.
Anonymous10 months agoSome have trouble with this scenario but regarding the circumstances I don't really have an issue. Did Susan commit an egregious error by having an affair with Bud? You bet! Did Andy make things better by doing the same thing with Michelle? Not so much. Two 'bastard' children ended up from this comedy of errors. It could have been worse, as in divorce with two kids being raised in single parent homes.
As it is Susan and Andy did still love each other, could claim very similar mistakes (though Susan did initiate this fiasco), but were committed to stay together and work towards a positive outcome. Unfortunately this scenario may only have been possible due to Michelle's terminal illness. Had Michelle not been dying Andy may well have pulled the plug on his and Susan's marriage.

•Cheating without blatant humiliation or debasement of the innocent spouse
•No bbc's were needing to be trimmed or cut out of the family bush
•No one blasted by a Martian Slut Ray
•No motorcycle club gratuity turned any women into drug addicted sex slaves
•No wives spent weeks away from their home and husband pulling trains in black owned bars
•A wife messed up, then woke up and corrected couse. Returning to her husband, discovers that he knew about her infidelity but realizes she was the one pushing him into another woman's arms. She does the things she needs to do to keep her family together and her husband happy. This is Loving Wives.
Anonymousover 2 years agoMaybe I was raised old fashioned, but my parents raised me to always have a great deal of love and self respect for myself, and never to take any shift from anybody. When I found my first wife engaged and what turned out to be a four-month long affair, she and all of her belongings were tossed into the street the next morning. Since the house we lived in at that time was covered by a family trust that my grandparents controlled, she had no claim on it. Also my consulting company which I started four years before we got married was also covered by a Family Trust as well. Some of these stories that show men who did not take time to financially protect themselves are very sad to read. While we were in the middle of our divorce oh, I was informed that my soon-to-be ex was with child, and looking at what the date of conception would have been, it was easy to see that the child was not mine. Six months after I threw her out of the house I was a free and single man again. Don't know what happened to the bitch after that!
