I tend to agree with the comment that she'll soon die of a heart attack if she's left in such an extreme hogtie position 24/7. If the author wanted to end this story with Katie being a full-time bound captive, at least Jack's house could have had a soundproof basement that his wife didn't know about, so he would have somewhere to keep her (and give her at least occasional relief from such a strict bondage position) other than the trunk of a car! Not enough thought given to ending.
