We kissed deeply, our tongues dancing together. "I love you, traffic girl," I said.
You could feel the adrenaline and emotion on the terrace, framed by the relentless soundtrack of the waves crashing into the Hawaiian shore.
"Don't forget to eat your dessert!" I told the girls.
"This is heaven," Kat said, and I couldn't tell if she was talking about dessert or her ring, which she couldn't stop admiring.
"We are going to fuck your brains out tonight," Jess said.
We chatted incessantly. The excitement was palpable. Desire began to rise. Our servers cleared the dinner service, and we were left alone. A silence came over us, as if we fell into our own thoughts. The girls snuggled up against me on one of the lounge chairs. I closed my eyes and felt the heat radiate from their bodies. My girls. Contentment washed over me like one of the waves below. Nothing could spoil the moment.
And then, out of the blue, all three of our phones chimed at the same time.
"That's weird," Jess said.
We grabbed them off the table.
"Holy shit," Kat said with a gasp.
Jess's face went white, and she crumpled to the ground. I unlocked my phone and saw the text message: "Dr. V died."
John doesn't know what love is clearly, he should just say to Jess I love you both but differently.
