Caroline Winslow was next, and she drew the number nine. Caroline operated her own beauty salon in Dallas and one of her customers was Kristina Vargas, the original co-owner and manager of the TLR. The two of them got along on the best of terms as Kristina deemed Caroline as the most superior hairdresser she had ever engaged. It seemed to Kristina that Caroline was able to unerringly create the hairstyles that suited Kristina perfectly. As Kristina was so satisfied with Caroline's services, that by her recommendations every local female member of the TLR became one of Caroline's customers. And as a matter of course Caroline became a member of the TLR.
Caroline was just about as thick as Beverley, but she had never been bullied because of her weight. Whenever someone disparaged her because of her weight she was always able to defuse the taunt by a witty retort. One of her finest moment occurred in high school when an insufferable but handsome jock called her a fat tub of lard. She responded, "My lovers have not complained since they see there's more of me to love. Too bad for you, that you won't get to have such an opportunity."
The ensuing laughter from the passers-by were clearly directed at the expense of the jock. As a result of that contretemps Caroline became one of the most popular girls in her school. Her popularity carried on into adulthood. At the TLR she never lacked for eager partners to do her.
