Great idea! Posting this a second time

seems to have improved your score. I suggest you keep posting it until the cows come home, or it achieves 'hot' status. Is this a form of a chain story where the same link is posted continuously? I know Todd172, qhml1, and Oshaw will have something a bit more original in their chain story. Great work and full marks. 5 *s from me on this one every time you post it!

Good story

I liked the completely improbable twists and turns, but you clearly don't know a lot about blood group inheritence. Purely on blood groups it is entirely possible for Lois to be the mother of Betty if the father was blood group B. DNA results of course are much more specific and would indeed be able to positively assign parenthood, but the initial blood groups on the day of Betty's accident only show that Brian was not the biological father. This is a situation that occurs not infrequently in hospitals when families are tested and in many cases the results are likely to be overlooked as "none of our business" as long as the child/children are seen to be in a caring environment and no evidence of abuse or wrong doing is suspected.

Well, I guess I'm late to the party because I didn't know it was a repost

So at least my comment is original. For what little it's worth.

Rare but healthy to find a cheating story that isn't overloaded with anger or culminating with vilifying payback. I hope I'm not alone--unfortunately, I'm sure I'll be in the minority--in being happy with your conclusion.

After all, your protagonist is happy. He clearly loved little Betty more than her 'mom', so why should a reader be unsatisfied if he gets both Betty and her real mom? Because Lois didn't suffer enough? Please. She was as faithful to her first husband Jerry as he would let her be. Sometimes in life we all serve as the Parenthesis. It was Brian's turn. But I'm glad this time he gets to finish out the sentence with the family he loves.

I'm afraid I can only go 4 stars though, because i don't see how you can own 5 successful restaurants in a town so small that everyone is as interactive as portrayed in this story. I also thought Brian should have been the grown up when he lost Betty--not Lois, that was fine--because she lost her daddy's love through no fault of her own (even though that might have spoiled the reunion, huh).

All in all, you navigated very well that narrow middle ground where cheaters don't get to be as happy as the saints they wronged but they do get to stay alive. Well done. Oh, hang it, let's go the full 5*.

Not sure I could....

Glad things turned out well for Jerry. Not sure I could have tolerated being around a cheating slut like Lois. Those many years of lies and deceit would be tough to handle let alone actually having to again be in her presence. Why would anyone want to be around a person like that? Both Lois and her fb are just not very nice people. They are shallow and selfish. I wouldn't want the kids to be around them and I certainly would not want to be anywhere near either one of those lying, cheating jerks.

They both got off lucky. Jerry just moved on. No revenge on either the slit or her lover. Maybe that's closer to real life, I don't know. But again, why would you spend any time around them. That's just going a bit far. Maybe, maybe if enough time had passed, as in several years. But this was just way too soon after getting his life back together with Chris and the girls for him to be o.k. with the slut and her fb spending time with them.

Not a bad story, just have a hard time believing a guy would be alright with how it ended.

Blood Type

The doctor is wrong. A mother Type O CAN have a child Type B IF the father is Type B or AB. Since he's Type A, HE can't be her father, but his wife can certainly be her mother!

True, he doesn't own her, but she doesn't own HIM either, and if he doesn't want her after she's been with someone else, that's his choice.

Unless and until they resolve things, Betty is their daughter! The other parents aren't being asked to relinquish custody of THEIR daughter, are they?

I would have insisted on answers for the speed dial and kisses!

Again, why is the other couple allowed to keep the child that they think is their daughter?

I KNEW that Chris was going to be the "other" mother!

I don't know, I don't think I could be that cordial with Lois, and ESPECIALLY Jerry!

AnonymousAnonymousabout 6 years ago
One of the most important things when writing is to know what you are doing.

As at least one other commenter has noted, a parent with Type O blood can have a child who is Type A, Type B, or Type O depending on what the blood type of the other parent is. There are two types of Type A or Type B blood--A/A in which each parent is Type A or A/O in which one parent is Type A and the other is Type O. The same is true for B/B and B/O. I have a Masters in Biology, but I'll bet anyone can learn this through Google. It is a huge mistake to write about things you know noting about. You lost me as soon as I read the paragraph about the blood types. 1* for laziness.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 6 years ago
re: Blood Type

Specifically, "Unless and until they resolve things, Betty is their daughter! The other parents aren't being asked to relinquish custody of THEIR daughter, are they?"

<P>

Agreed. There have been several cases of babies switched at birth. If anything, it's often hard for them to be switched back because of the disruption to the children. All they know is that they are being taken away from the only parents they know, and often the courts decide keeping that continuity for the children is the paramount concern.

Same story as before

I started reading this and realized that I had already read it and was hoping that a repost would have had a different ending.

But, nope the same story of a cheating bitch becoming the "loving aunt".

Cheating two days before the marriage is one thing but, continuing to cheat the entire marriage was just too much for me. I don't see the husband wanting to share any time with a cheating ex and including "uncle Jerry" in their family life is way too much. Will Jerry be hitting on Chris next?

AnonymousAnonymousabout 6 years ago
Time has a way of bringing payment due.

Men age like wine, women age like cheese. Jerry is a selfish shallow unethical bastard, who took Lois back because she is a selfish shallow soulless bitch. Lois will age quickly and poorly, as evil people tend to do. Jerry will be fucking around on Lois before she hits 50, probably before she hits 40. Lois will spend her middle life on to her death in guilt and regret. She will pour whatever resources and energy she can manage into Jackie's life, but it will never be enough. Lois will hate herself for abandoning Brian, then hate herself for abandoning Jackie, then hate herself for reconnecting with the complete asshole who is Jerry. She will start drinking again until she kills herself, on purpose or by accident. Jackie will appreciate the inheritance, but she won't give a second thought to the woman who abandoned her. Good riddance.

Bad Science

You lost me almost immediately. If a woman with type "O" blood conceives with a man with type "B" blood she has a 75% chance of having a type "B" child (50% if he's b/o and 100% if he's b/b). I've known this since I was 7 but they teach it in 10th grade biology. A little fact checking please.

And i feel generous.

Sorry the story doesnt make sense to me. I get the anger, betrayal and sense of loss of Brian, im somewhat the fact that loose his daugther "twice" but the whole legal debacle doesnt make any sense like many reviewers point before, yes the biological parents have rights, but also the "foster" parents specially when this whole debacle was the result of a disgruntled employed, that without say that each child have its own represantive that must figth for the wellbeing of the girls, the end was beyond of any posibility. Jerrey and Lois are a pair of selfish individuals, one of them put her own daugther up to adoption almost the same day in which she got... what a bitch.

Interesting Situation But Seriously Flawed Ending

I strongly disagree with allowing Lois and Jerry anywhere near the children or the family.

1-Betty should be separated from the women who didn't love her enough to care for her when she was her child. And she gave her up for adoption at 5 years old when she learned Betty wasn't her biological daughter.! She will be an impediment as Christine tries to establish herself as Betty's true and only loving mother.

2-Lois is a threat to Jackie. Being her biological mother, Lois may, over time, attempt to have more influence in her life. Additionally, Betty will feel betrayed if Lois, who acted as her mother for 5 years, shows favoritism toward Jackie.

3-Having Lois or Jerry around frequently can only serve to remind Brian of the deceit, disrespect and sham associated with his marriage to Lois and what a low life Jerry is. The best situation for him is a complete severance of all communication with both of them.

4-The girls should not be exposed to the likes of both Jerry and Lois, two totally deceitful, lying, utterly selfish people. They are role models for everything that Chris and Brian would not want their children to become.

The author exhibits a utter lack of understanding of human relations by ending the story with Auntie Lois and Uncle Jerry being part of Brian's family.

Nice job

Well played, plenty of plot twists, and couldn’t see most of them coming. The unknown sperm donor? No way to see that coming. When Chris finally said she had kids, it gave away that Brian would see Betty soon... but sometimes you can’t hide the plot twists. I just think Brian was too forgiving to Lois, too soon. Keeping the girls away would have been cruel to Betty, But still, Brian should not have had to endure Jerry’s presence at all.

ValintValintalmost 6 years ago
Complete and utter bullshit

The hospital basically committed kidnapping. Their setting themselves up as the arbiter of the situation was insane, and would have ended with them being sued for millions of dollars for that, on top of the lawsuit over the baby-switching. No sane hospital would ever do that; they'd simply sit back, tell the parties involved to fight it out in family court, and until then, whoever's on the birth certificate is the presumptive legal parent.

The idea that Lois' real daughter would have been taken away from her parents and put up for adoption (but, hey, at least her parents had the inside track on that!) is just mind-numbingly moronic.

Here's how it would have played out:

* Betty would have gone home with Lois and Brian

* The hospital would have been sued over the baby switch, with a good chance of the switched kids splitting a million or so dollars

* Lois could have sued for custody of Jackie, but wouldn't, so nothing would have changed for Jackie

* Chris and her husband could have sued for custody of Betty. If Brian and Lois were staying together, it's pretty unlikely they would win (but might get visitation), because of a strong presumption against disrupting a child's life like that. However, since Brian and Lois were divorcing, it would have been a free-for-all for custody between whoever out of Brian, Lois and Chris&Jack wanted her, and really anyone's ballgame.

The middle section, where the exposition fairies spell out everything Brian needs to know, was incredibly blatant and bad writing.

The ending, where Lois and Jerry are loving aunt and uncle to the kids is nonsensical. I have trouble grasping the degree of ballessness necessary for that outcome. I've never really understood the "This person is a sack of shit with a moral code I find repugnant. I definitely want them to be involved in raising my children!" mindset.

PowersworderPowersworderalmost 6 years ago
Was Brian an alien? He doesn't behave like any man I've ever met...

It's hard to feel sympathy for the husband.

Brian knew Lois was a slut when he was dating her... he caught her with someone else and she admitted to fucking the other guy. Did he really expect her to stay faithful when she got married? The dumbass should have walked and never looked back.

But he didn't...

So she got herself knocked up by some random nameless cowboy (classy!), duping Brian into raising another man's bastard. Then she cheated on Brian constantly throughout his entire marriage.

After betrayal heaped on betrayal, there is NO WAY, he would ever speak to her again, aside from profanity laden tirades. However, we're supposed to believe that he forgives her and even lets her be a prominent part in his kids lives? Come on... no one is that forgiving! Even Jesus would have told the bitch to go fuck herself.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 6 years ago
Twisty

The story is a bit of a roller coaster. For Brian Jerry and Lois you take turns feeling sympathy and contempt for all three. Brian spends most of the story acting like a hurt Schoolboy and is selfish enough himself that he can't say goodbye to the little girl who knows him as her daddy. Lois's actions speak for themselves, and she at least thinks of her birth daughter's well-being before her own. Indeed she would not have been a good mother. At the end of the second page I did not know how to feel about the story but by the end of it I thought it was exceptionally well brought together. Kudos

I Guess This Could Work

I know a woman who has three children by her husband's three brothers. And four brothers who have had sex with each of their brother's wives. The women have several children in total, but only one was actually a product of husband and wife. And I know a woman who has children by a father and son. And she had married first the son, then his father and back to the son. And I know a man who is raising his cousin's son. If these relationships can work, surely the one described here can work.

I don’t think I could be civil to either of these horrible people. She used him for her own ends without any concern about his feelings or well being. If the girl hadn’t been injured how long would she have continued with her deception or would it have taken to seek divorce, if ever?

It all ends too easily for me. I think he would want closure not being reminded every day how the bitch treated him.

I think an epilogue where Jerry has a crash and is left impotent and in a wheelchair would be good to see how the bitch deals with that.

A story with much potential...squandered at the finale

I started to read your tale and was intrigued by the plotline. I know this type of situation has arisen in "real-life", so I was curious as to where you would take it. Truthfully, I did not warm to the characters of Lois and Jerry...that's putting it mildly. My own feeling towards Lois is that if she admittedly did not see herself as a mother, why the fuck would she be any different as an "aunt" ?!!!!!! As far as the red car - addicted lawyer Jerry....meh. Both Lois and Jerry were portrayed as extremely shallow individuals with very few redeeming qualities. The "reconciliation" at the end was so false and schmaltzy, I thought It was taken from the Disney channel!

Help Me, Please

I read a story where a man found "his" child wasn't really "his". For some reason the biological father either couldn't be identified or he couldn't be found. He may even had been dead. The main character in the story had been the only "father" the child could identify with. He sought a divorce from his cheating wife. But the courts made him financially responsible for the child. About the same time I read that story, I heard that several states place the financial burden of raising such children not on the biological father or mother, but on the man who had "accepted" that responsibility when the child was born.. This just doesn't seem right.

Huedogg called him the ultimate cuckold

Why? It was a coincidence that his new wife had adopted his old wife’s daughter. His choice was to either accept that, and be the daddy to the daughter he had reared and bonded with, and the woman he loved, or abandon a woman he loved, the daughter he feared, and Lois’s biological daughter. It wasn’t the kid’s fault!

The main character proved himself to be a real man.

The last part about Aunt Lois and Uncle Jerry seemed contrived, and, in the end, Lois’ biological daughter is going to have some serious questions.

I hated the ending. The MC was such a pussy. Why in the world would you even speak to the slut, much less let her into the children's lifes? That's just asking for trouble. You could let the maternal grandparents see the children on Sundays. However, he should have told the bitch and loverboy to get back into the Ferrari and drive away. She gave up her daughter for adoption so she has no right to try to see the child. She whorred around the entire marriage. So she has no right to try to talk to the MC. He needed to tell her to fuck off and wash his hands of her. It wouldn't hurt to let everyone know just what a slut she is also. If any guy would actually do what this character did; he needs to turn in his man card, hug a tree, and then go eat a creampie.

nixroxnixroxabout 3 years ago

what is the point of making a comment when all these stories are fiction?

Constructive criticism might assist the author in making some changes in the next story and that might make them better to read. This story was relatively easy to read but the content was more than a bit unrealistic and not believable. The main male character should have been a whole lot angrier than depicted in this story and there should have been a whole lot of anger directed at the cheating bitch. It has been my experience that anything remotely like this story would have created a whole lot more anger than this tepid story displayed.

Other Grandparents, had a granddaughter plus one. Brain, Chris, kids and grandparents were victims made whole. From a legal point Lois was lucky she got what she got, as she was a legal nothing. But you know eventually Jackie will be told and by then we can hope Jackie will banish Lois from her life.

Very original, but the reconciliation with the adulterers was revolting and implausible.

I don't know how to rate this. It is well written. The characters where believable and though the situation stretched credibility, I thought the lead character whimped out at the end. He was previously likable and sympathetic. It would have been much more satisfactory if "Uncle Jerry" had become castrated in the wreck of his red car.
