"How I got up here isn't what we're going to talk about, Addison!" I shouted over her. "We were both part of this and you don't get to make the command decision about what we will and won't talk about!"
"I already told you I don't want--"
"I know, you've said, you don't want to talk! You fell for me! You're gay, I'm straight! You can't deal, so you get to cut me off and never talk to me because that's what's best for Addie! You even get to kiss me before you walk out of my life! But you don't get to decide how you made me feel with all that shit and I need us to talk about it!"
She looked anguished. "I am so sorry if I hurt you, but I had to. I can't--"
"You can't what?" I snapped. "You get to just fuck off forever, leaving me to wonder what I did wrong or what I could have done differently to--"
"Liz, stop! We're not doing this! God! Come on, I'll help you back down the stairs." She leaned down to take my hand to try to move me.
"No!" I snarled and grabbed her wrist. She flinched in surprise at the strength of my grip as I pulled her towards me and reached up with my other hand. Two can play her game, I thought. I grabbed her behind her neck, pulling her face down. She stumbled down to her knees as I locked my lips onto hers.
The ZING that went through me was just as strong as when she'd kissed me at the top of the Metro escalator all those weeks ago, like a lightning bolt. I swear, I could feel it in my nerveless toes. At that moment, all my questions about whether or not I really wanted her fled my mind. I wanted her. She struggled against me for a moment or two until her brain registered what was happening.
I saw her eyes widen in surprise, then close. I closed mine as well as I felt her mouth open. My tongue moved gently past her lips and she tasted sweeter than I would have believed. After what seemed like an eternity, I let her go.
She leaned back away from me. An inch. Maybe two. Her eyes slowly opened, staring into mine.
"Liz?" she whispered.
"I don't need you to help me down the stairs. I need you to go bring my chair up so someone doesn't steal it while I'm here."

apollo_XI9 months agoSo, I actually went back and re-read 'Twas the Night Before Xmas. Another of your marvelous stories! Your characters are so believable and down to earth. Love how you are intertwining this story with Hard Landing (a bit) and your other gems. No wonder your stories are getting all the accolades! Looking forward to the last chapter, though I am in pretty sure of how it will end... tears at my end, I'm sure!

Anonymousabout 2 years agoAs a person with a disability, the only thing that takes me out of the story is the term handicapped. It is woefully dated. an ADA ramp or ADA Button, is better. Emphasize the person over the disability. That said, your stories are brilliant. Thank you.

Yes turning around walking away shutting someone out of your life being afraid of whatever, thats o society move, ok not a 100% but yeah a well known one ...... You are so talented , love this story int totally

"As I turned to go, Jimmy asked "What's nunya?"
"Nunya bidness!" Kat and Angel said in unison. They laughed as I wheeled past Agent Amber and said, "Well c'mon, let's roll.""
But in all seriousness another beautifully written chapter ranging across the emotions. Thank goodness Liz has put on her army hat and become a hard ass otherwise Addie might well be in trouble. Too late, she already is. And now onto chapter 5.

Decemberstouchalmost 4 years agoI am pretty sure you must have heard this before but, YOU ARE AN AMAZING WRITER HANDS DOWN! I don't even feel persuaded to read other stories you've brought life to. It's just simple, if you want to know the incredible couple Jo and Blue, read Hand Landing. Want an insight into Kat and Megan, read 'Twas The Night Before and of course Wheels In Motion for Liz and Addison. It all comes together as ONE, just Brilliant!
For the record, Liz is quite a gem no? Going through so much stress just to talk to a gay woman while she's 'straight' lol. Go get your woman girl!!!!

Anonymousalmost 4 years agoI love the stair scene. Those moments when your heart dictates what your body is capable of are so engaging. I’m more desperate for your chapter 5 than I am when for coffee when my kids wake me up before the sun. That is a feat. Love your work and your mind Spokes.
