Wild Flower Ch. 20

"Will you shut up?" Christian gripped his hair, pulling on it hard. "He paid you and that's what..."

"No!" The man from his neighborhood spoke. "I would never accept money from that man. You know we are telling the truth and hence why you are denying. I wanted us to keep the truth but I wanted you to get justice for Mr. Pablo by finding his real murderer instead of blaming someone who didn't do it." He said, looking in the eyes of the vulnerable man. "Making you hate him would have been our best revenge against that man for what he had done to all us by trying to steal our land."

"I still... still don't believe you. He probably threatened you."

Peter shook his head and got up angrily from the chair. "Look, dude, I came here to talk to you because my friend here wanted to help you find justice for your father or whatever. You can choose to believe it or not. I have done my part." Then he chuckled bitterly and looked at Christian. "I don't even know why La don even fell for you because you're such a jerk."

With those words, he furiously left the restaurant with his friend behind him.

Christian was left there all alone, deep in his thoughts.

"I don't even know why la don fell for you because you are such a jerk."

Could it have been true, he thought as he buried his face between his palms. Could what the man had told him been true. He knew that Miguel had mentioned Peter while he had been pleading with him to listen to him but he had chosen to ignore. He was really hurting and he felt as if he was going crazy. There were a lot of things going on in his mind.

"I didn't do anything to your father. You can't possibly think I did that, Christian." He said in a little louder voice. "I did not kill your father." He remembered the most painful scene in his life. But this time, his pain was worse because Miguel had been crying and pleading with him to listen. "You all can't accuse me of something that I didn't do." Miguel had said harshly. "I didn't kill Pablo. You know I would never do this, Christian. You and I have come a long way and I promised you that I would never hurt anyone in your family. I can't bring any harm to you."

Christian felt as if he was placed in a furnace. He was really sweaty, cold and hot at the same time. A myriad of emotions took control of him at that time, pain, depression, regret, love, hate and pain all over again. But the worst of it all was how vulnerable he felt. He looked so lost that people in the restaurant started watching.

"I love you so much." Miguel's words rang through him, the very words Miguel had said he loved him for the first time. "I have stripped naked before you, Christian. I love you so much."

Christian's emotions were getting too deep, filling him up. He was about to explode. He couldn't breathe... he felt as if something was seated on his chest. He couldn't see clearly either, he was started to blur. He tried so hard to breath and when he did...

"Miguel..." A deafening scream came out of his voice, filling the whole restaurant.
