This story is spectacular, Sylvia! You have really captured the quotidian life of the 1960s/1970s, and the attitudes of men. Women too were often naive and trusting, although I think it was rare that men attacked them like that. Having the attack end when Mrs. Smith made abundantly clear it was unwelcome was -- I must say -- perfectly done. A great beginning and I look forward to learning what happens next! The moral is also clear: Beware of men bearing gifts of cactus. 5*~~JB
