Just absolutely wonderful. Don't know why, but I have a massive soft spot for stories about lesbian single moms finding love, and this is by far the best of them. On a side note (and this is not at all a bad thing), I'm beginning to think your stories must take place in the same alternate universe as The Last Word where 2/3 of all women are gay. I can't wait to read your next story!
No other words needed this was truly a amazing story! Thank you so much for sharing it with us all!
It was just so lovely!!! And I love the slow building of story and definitely looking forward to your next story!!! <3
This had me crying at times it was so moving. The slow build up was perfect for the telling of such a tale. What a talent you have.
Are you a romance novelist? Great story! Had me in tears several times.
Thank goodness for kleenex tissues. What a wonderful romance. Thanks also for the reprise of Alex and Jess. Two of my favorite characters, but Cal and Annie may have topped the charts. Thanks for this sweet read.
I’ve absolutely loved your stories and how you’ve reached back and given life the supporting characters from Alex and Jess’ original storyline. You’re a gem and so are your stories!
I know for a fact that I raved about Alex and Jess. Really thought they were the best ever. Sorry Ms. Mak you just got bumped. This was so special in so many ways. I am in love with both of these women, and half or more of their friends!
You have made this a special week for so many I am sure. Thank you for your efforts, the time, the love, the care all paid for in spades.
What a superb LOVE story!! It would make a wonderful movie!
Thank you
An excellent story that had me caring about the characters from the first page. An excellent story, thank you for letting us read it.
I laughed (dead puppies, dead puppies, dead puppies), I cried, I shouted to the heavens (Cal’s stubbornness). As with all your work, 5 stars just isn’t enough. I’m going back to read Alex and Jess’s stories now! Small seed of an idea for your next work maybe. K.T. And Meaghan’s story perhaps? I know, I know! I’m being greedy! Can’t help but want more!! Many thanks to you and much love.
It's official....I enjoy every single thing you write...I mean, this was fantastic and I fell in love with both characters. The supporting characters were wonderful as well :) If I could give this more than 5 stars I would do so in a heartbeat. Well done!
I think you could write me a parking fine and I'd love it! Brilliant as always. Please please keep them coming
You are one fine author. Loved that you wove Alex and Jess into the story. Thank you very much.
The other comments have said it all---no need for me to repeat everything except just to say congratulations, Carey, on a fine piece of work.
Probably the best writing ever on this site
As a man, it was like being in a woman's mind for the entire story.
Maybe this is what Bruce Jenner read......
I’ve loved every story that you’ve posted, but this one might be my favorite!!!
YOU'RE THE BEST CAREY! I'VE ALWAYS WAITED FOR A NEW STORY AND HERE IT GOES!!! I'VE READ IT FOR JUST A COUPLE OF HOURS. I CAN'T STOP READING, IT WAS JUST... PERFECT! I LOVE IT TO THE BONES! AND I LOVE YOU TOO, PLEASE KEEP WRITING 💖
That was one of the best stories I've read on this site. Bravo.
What a terrific story. Could not put it down. Maybe your best yet. Thank you.
You've done it again. A wonderfully written story with complex characters that we can care about. You have quickly became one of my favorite authors on here. I look forward to reading more of your work.
Your writing is so good because you take your time build the plot and introduce the characters in fine detail.
I love many things about this story, but the way you balance Cal's internal conflict and Annie's developing feelings is magnificent. I eagerly await your next tale.
I am smiling so frickin' hard that my cheeks hurt. What an absolutely amazing story. A ghost of a chance turned out to be a foreseeable reality with a happy and deserving ending. Yeah!
Wow I thoroughly enjoyed that despite the sleepless nights
Entertaining, witty, well balanced - should be published.
I'll have more of the same please anytime.
Thanks for sharing

What have you done to all of us?
I shouldn't have started reading this in the middle of the night! I was so caught up in the story that I couldn't help but finish it despite of the busy schedule the next day.
I wish that I hadn't known such a great writer like yourself so I wouldn't have to suffer such an agony of the long wait of your wonderful works.
Oh, how I love the heart tingling sensation that I can always find in your stories.
You truly are one of the most talented writers that's really hard to find not only on this site but also to all over the world.
And you are worth waiting! ;)
(Apology for the maladroit English writing as it's not my mother tongue)
Your biggest fan
This was most definitely a 5+🌟, story. Crafted with beautiful vision. Carey Thomas whatever was your muse or inspiration I'm sure glad it motivated you too put your vision into words.
Thank You.
🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 dozen roses.
There are many stories that are only half as long and that fail to hold any interest as to make one skip right to the "juicy parts". In this case, I'm glad the juicy parts were secondary and the end product of the leisurely pace of an emotional journey that was more a study in letting go and allowing oneself to live and especially love again. I liked the parts about the palm reading revelation and the photo frame falling down, just to name a few. I may as well just say I liked the entire thing!
one of the best stories i have read on lit! absolutely so realistic and believable.
you are a masterful storyteller. wonderful characters that come to life on the screen.
more, please...
thank you for entertaining and taking me to tears
I love how you keep extending your original story by writing new love stories about the secondary characters in the original one. Please continue this, these are all so wonderful to read! Thank you for sharing this with us!
...why you are one of a small handful of writers in my favorites list! <3 Absolutely adore how your stories are so much more about character, emotion, desire and romance rather than just sex. So excited to see Alex and Jess make a few cameo appearances too :-) Thanks for a great read!
Your epilogue made me cry when you made that story of how annie wanted cal to tell her and the kids stories of becca's life before the illness. That's just beautiful and enviable you know. I would want that kind of love.
Was looking for something errrrr titillating to pass a quick moment between household chores.....Read page 1, page 2, page 3 and before I know it I was hooked . What I wonderfully heartwarming tale, very well written. It brought a tear to my eye on more than one occasion. Bravo!
The only thing I didn't like about thus story was my own poor decision to start reading it late at night. I couldn't put it down and I'm definitely going to pay for it tomorrow by only getting 4 hours sleep! Still, well worth it and so looking forward to reading chapter 2 tomorrow.
Just realized there wasn't a chapter 2. Blaming the sleepiness on that one. But definitely looking forward to your next installment... Maybe a Megan / K.T. piece on the horizon?
To say that "A Ghost of a Chance" is excellent and riveting is to damn it with faint praise. If you have not done so already, please DO contact a (literary) agent as you undeniably have the gift.
Loved the story could nor stop reading it. The only thing that threw me is the story of ware Becca passed Becca wanted cal to be with Kristen I think was her name and they got married after Becca passing what happened with that
I want to read this again in its entirety, but my chest barely survived the first time. It was like I was watching this play out in real time. Detailed and emotion infused writing. Love it!
And all of your other stories. You are a wonderful romance writer! thank you for sharing this with us!
So beautiful, so wonderfully put together. You could see and feel everything with an intimacy as though you could just insert yourself into the story. You have a wonderful gift for writing.
I loved this story just like all the rest of your stories. It made me tear up and that’s a first on here. I would have liked a little more intimacy between the two of them, more touching and left wanting. Although I stand by my other comments on your stories. Go and get published ;)
stories I have read in in longer than I can remember regardless of category!
Second time reading this and it just gets better! You’ve got a fantastic talent! Never stop sharing with us. I’m going to reread your other stories now. I just can’t decide which one to start with!! Looking forward to your next endeavour. Many thanks and much love.
I did so tremendously enjoy myself reading this. Almost the entire spectre of human emotions was visited, sadness, joy, excitement, romance, stubbornness, optimism, but above all love - not only romantic love, love of and for parents, children, siblings, friends ... What's more to say?
Masterful use of emotional conflict with these two women in love yet the circumstances delaying their connection almost fatally. The genuine feelings created for the departed Becca and the children, really made the story felt.
The sad thing about these stories is that real life pales in comparison in that one's dreams and desires for such a connection--doesn't happen.
Thanks for making me feel it!
it's now 4am - only 3 hours of sleep now , but so very worth it and yes i'm crying . oh wow what a story. thank you so very much. many hugs from me - sarah.
I love all you're stories but A ghost of a chance is the best!! Annie is the best and my favorite character. Thank you for this beautiful story careythomas
This was absolutely gorgeous.
Also, I almost died laughing at the "Jesus, Becca. I know you liked Ghost, but do you have to go all Asian-Over-Achiever in terms of paranormal communications?" line!
Ok, the end was so good that even if you had done no detailed sex it would 't have hurt the story at all. I say that as a almost 50 year old "straight" but seriously genderqueer guy lol. This kind of story hits everything I dream of. Thanks!
I got bored waiting for new stories to be posted, so I've been going back and rereading some of my favorites, and this one came up in the rotation. I just can't get over how good this story is! Thanks for sharing it with us, and I'm hoping you publish some new material soon!
I sense a story about KT brewing in the background here.
I just love this story so much that I keep coming back to read it again and again. It's beautiful and romantic.
I almost didn't read this story and man am I glad I chose to. The characters and plot are totally captivating and have a depth to them that just hits all the feelings. I'll admit that I don't cry a lot but I did get misty eyed a few times while reading this beautiful story.
Really well written and engaging story. Kept me intrigued and wanting to know how it ended.
Although Im male and now in my 50s, my wife passed when she was only 24 and I 25. We had a daughter who was 2 at the time. A few months later I met a fantastic young woman who I spent a lot of time with, unlike the story not only was I too stupid to realise she was in love with me, but I had no one close to tell me as my family lived at the other side of the UK at the time. It was only a chance meeting on holiday almost 20 years later that I found out how she had felt, but sadly by then she was married ......... this story reminded me of that time
Just such a wonderfully written story. I'm so impressed with your ability to seamlessly weave two first person narratives together. On top of NO noticeable grammatical errors, this was just a joy to read. But now I have to read all your other work. Oh, woe is me.
One of the most outstanding stories I have read here!
Found you listed in another author's Favorites, I am I glad that I did.
Very well done, and an Instant Favorite, one that I will be more than happy to read again.
5 very well earned stars, and my gratitude for you writing it.
this was such a beautiful piece of writing! made me smile and laugh, brought tears to my eyes and the sex scenes were a perfect amount of sexiness and creative story writing! thank you so much
Something new each time I've read it. I'm up to three.
And the Ansonia is at 73rd and Broadway. It has a Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ansonia There was a shoot-out there in the movie "Three Days of the Condor".
Your writing simply touches my heart. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing talent with us.
I just had to read this lovely story once again. Puts a great big smile on my face every single time.
Just shows that erotica does not have to be constant sex. The build up to that precious page was so captivating. I'm going to want to read this again I'm sure in a few months, it's just so well written. Thank you.
Type this up, package it, send it to BellaBooks or Boldstroke Books for one of their editors and you are the next Gerri Hill.
Nice
An actual story! Not just sex. Eventually, there is, but nothing like the typical stories. This is more like a romance novel. It was good!
That was a great story. I thought it was wonderfully told and the story bulidup made it almost heartbreaking; thanks to some kicks in the but by one very well-minded mother-in-law finally made her see it.

I found your canon just a couple of days ago (Who knew that I might find good stories by clicking on the "Top Rated" link?) and I have not been able to stop reading. I am simply blown away by your storytelling.
I won't bore you with poorly phrased praises. I'm sure you've heard it all before from your legion of fans. I only want to beg your for more. Pretty please?
...beautifully told, and I loved every moment of it. You have an awesome storytelling gift, and you write beautifully too.
Like everyone else, I can only search for superlatives. You took me through a heart-wrenching journey on the way to the perfect ending. A true artist with words - and emotions. Thank you.
This is hands down the best story of this site. If it were a movie it would be one of those I’ve watched a dozen times.
I need to know there is more to this series. More, very readable, creations coming from your beautiful imagination. Whilst the story lines are repetitive. Your writing creates real people right there on the page. People you cannot stop yourself from caring about, from taking deep into your heart and holding them dear. Your dialogue is of the real world. Your characters are deep, well crafted, and consistent, not twisting to fit the plot. I have sent you feedback. I have googled your name to see if you are available elsewhere. Alas, you seem to have disappeared. Please tell us where we can get more of this fantastic writing.
What a beautiful story, so sweet and romantic and down-to-earth normal life and love and loss and sadness and joy, in such a strong lesbian setting
This is my third or fourth time reading this story, and I absolutely love it! Thank you for sharing it with us!
I just re-read this wonderful story, Carey. Like the first time, it gripped me by the throat, shook me around and churned up my insides. I love it! Need I say more?
came to the site today looking for a quick jill, but uh, wow, didn't expect to be enthralled for a couple hours - complete with laughter and tears and delight at the finest little disaster lesbian story I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy.
I absolutely adored this love story. It’s well-written, funny, sad, beautiful, and joyous. I read it straight through in one sitting. I was so enthralled, I even forgot to go to the restroom! :-) <3
The delicate descriptions of happenings the simple things we like to ignore - tapsies on the floor for example - all the details are making this and all of your stories so breathtaking
Thank you .... Amazingly wonderful
Love all your stories!! Would be awesome to read more of Meghan and kt’s story
Someone please tell me that this author has published work outside of Literotica!
I need to give them my money. Seriously! Does anyone know if this author has published novels? Seems like the writing is way too good not to be from a published author. Help me find it!
I could not stop reading this story had to finish when I started reading and hope you careythomas will write more stories like this it was fantastic reading I only read this to-day and it is very real to life thank you. xxx
Ahhh so good. Everytime I read it and its soooo good. Happy happy feelings
