...I've read on this site in a long time. I kept waiting for the downer ending, especially when I realized the time line had them all right in the crosshairs for the eruption of the Korean War. But the ending you did give us was absolutely perfect. And the Army details were superb, and right on point. Great work.

Very very good read! Not the usual erotic story to be found now-a-days. As a young soldier stationed in Korea this hit home for me very well, running the gamut back to my time in college to dealing with the army b.s.

Some small problems about some of the military portions but nothing major, I believe the writer is ex-military?

More of a love story/romance novel type then a true erotic short story but I still found it to be exciting.

Got me hooked early and hot at times, excellent work!

Will be looking for your future writings at the bookstore!

I have never commented on stories I've read but yours will be my exception. This is a very well written short story. The romance, adventure, along with some hot vivid sex scenes keeps the reader in suspense. You keep the readers asking for more. You should try your luck with novels or some kind of professional writing.

A touching love story about very real people. The one thing that really surprised me was that the first sergeant that made the informal call to his sergeant (grunt) buddy in Korea wasn't Waters.

Nice story, and all that, but it is pretty clear that the author is familiar with the various novels of WEB Griffin - better sex than Griffin, but the rest, like I say, is patterned after three different series - the army, the intelligence cloak and dagger, and the Korean intelligence issue

There were some startling anachronisms and inaccuracies (if one reads this as history they are inaccurate, otherwise not) - and the deus ex machina that got the protagonist in Korea was unlikely, shall we say (particularly when there were NO US Army units (just MAG) stationed there when the war broke out)

Griffin had his protagonist in a more realistic role, and trying to deliver the bad news in a much more realistic manner

I really liked this story. A touch of realism (definetly understands the army), a touch of wimsy, and well done.

I hope you keep posting these stories.

While I don't normally read stories this long (most of the time I get bored with them) this one captured my attention from the beginning and held me to the end.

Best line: "Virgina for short, but not for long" and whoever said it got a kick to the stomach, who then said to his pals he fell and hurt himself. Tough little likeable girl character, although we know nothing of her.

Not many stories are this well written - no spelling or grammatical mistakes - good story line - I loved the fact that I was completely wrong about the outcome!!!!! Cannot praise you enough. Please keep it up!

However, there is one significant problem with this story.<P>

Author, 3 years is much too long a gap since your last and that is unforgivable - well maybe. Another in say 3 to 6 months could be considered absolution for your prior sin of selfish forgetfulness but only if that guilt motivates you.<P>

If not, we will not only release the hounds but commence the whining at close interval until you produce or go mad.<P>

Author this was grand stuff even if we were seconded to another site. Of course that means that instead of long overdue your next will be just in time sooner than later. Further, you prove that there are more than a few very high quality talented authors on this site.<P>

I can't really put my finger on it, but the first part just doesn't quite come up to the standard of the rest. I'm guessing that you breezed thru college and OCS a bit too fast and formulaically for it to feel as real as the rest.

I was extremely disappointed that it ended with the NK coming across the line and didn't at least last thru the Korean War. The epilogue at least kept me from looking you up and hanging you from the nearest yardarm!

Even with those complaints, this is the best story I have found here! Keep up the good work!

One of the finest short stories I've read anywhere.

I cannot find more superlatives than the following . The characters are extremely well done. They, and the story are very believable. The technical research is exhaustive & correct. (another has noted that the artillery details are bang on & I can assure you that the spec. ops. description was on the money, the only differences being unique to the nationality & service conducting them). The plot could not be better. The epilogue was spectacular; as to style and superb ending. This story is, in my opnion, one of the top 3 on the site. Grammer & spelling were error free. I would be delighted to read more of your work. What commercial work have you done? List them & I will buying them stat. Carry on, master author. All the best going forward. Congratulations, Dan.

Loved it but I'm biased - 30 years in a green skin would do that to a person. I had family in 'K' Force. This story illustrates the hitherto little known relationship between higher ranked soldiers and their Bn / Bde / Div Officers. Well Done Author!

Speaking as a former military man and incidentally engaged to a foreign national if you will phrase it so, THIS is a truly beautiful example of a loving wife story. The author is also very clearly a military veteran or has family who is or has been. Amazingly well researched and written. Kind of makes me wonder why it's in this category rather than the "loving wife" category, which seems predominantly to be "cheating spouse" more than loving wife?

As an old Marine I can relate to the way the senior enlisted act in your story. The flavor is exactly right - I worked for "Top" sergeants who would have fit in well with your characters. Furthermore, my youngest son who recently completed 6 years in the Army (26 months in Iraq) related many incidents with First Sergeants or Sergeants Major which convinced me that our military is still in good hands. With the exception of a few missed military terms (signet vs SIGINT for example) this story is nearly perfect. Well worth reading.
