We cou;d only wish

that when a marriage is going to hell and is on the brink of collapse. That the spouses love each other enough to fight for their marriage. A very well written loving story. This is what Loving Wives should be all about. Thank you.

wonderful great story BUT

Look I am giving this a 100... this is great story. Its well written and it flows amazingly well.

But it doesnt work that way in real life. I know. I am so there. In real life the wife would scream at him... "I am not going to waste my time with loser like you!!!..."

Welcome to Fantasy Island where all things can

happen if you suspend life and actions. People if they are not careful let the love in their marriage turn to almost love as siblings. You love each other but treat each other more like brother and sisten than as one person, husband and wife. Work, children, personal obcessions (sports), and laziness can gradually destroy the romance, lust, and love of a couple. Your story describes a couple at the threshold and they attempt jointly to repair the damage. Most couples fight with each other rather than attempt to repair themselves to restore the marriage. They must be in love and lust with each other, if either spouse has turned to another for the lust, love, or newness they want the marriage is toast, maybe not right then but it is dead.

True Loving Wives

Like a breath of fresh air coming into our normally miserable lives, this story is what I feel loving wives is all about, but is unfortunately not often the case. A brilliant story, about real life and how it can get stuffed up if we dont care enough. We should always remember why we married in the first place and the vows we gave to each other. That love and romance still rules is indeed a godsend and I hope it never changes. Great writting ,keep it up.

very well writen story

I'm glad that not all stories turn out to be where the wife is a cheating slut. It's good to read that the couple could work out their differences, and continue on with their love relationship. Thanks for the good story....Rich

Nice to have you back .

very good story. The problems in this marriage are more real than most people think. But at least niether of them went out and had sex with someone else. The only thing I will possibly say is, if they had so many problems for so long how did it take a week to solve the problem?

Good Story! Most strong and long lasting marriages survive this sort of thing in varying degrees over time. It's good to see a story like this once in awhile on the board. It offsets those stories where the marriage is torn to shreds and dissolved.

superb story

What can one say negatively about this story. It was well written by an author who is an established topnotch story writer. It's appropriate and brings out the drive that American people have to succeed in life according to the standards we have established, and it encompasses several important and basic family values. Why don't you write more stories, Jack? RAG

Beautiful Fantasy

Fantasy because it has a low probability of happening this way. Basically most guys would have said "Well if that is the way you feel then you can talk to my lawyer.." In reply to here declaration that she thought she would be too busy to take time off. And most women,IMHO, would have all ready moved on after he stepped on the honor that time. But I am a romantic and loved it!

Good story, deserves a followup

This can happen, but they are not out of the woods yet. The question is will they continue to make time for each other when they are no longer on vacation. It will take work on both sides, as well as understanding when they are busy.

Realistic story, Jack.

I think it's consistent with the song lyrics and certainly a possible outcome. There're really lessons for all of us in your story. Love is not just a process but also a decision, one we have to make and remake every day.

Thanks for participating in my invitational.

Regards, Jack

Very realistic indeed

Too many married couples get bogged down. Thier employees want 110% of them, Their kids want 110% of them and then theres the various organizations that prey upon them , run by inconciderate people that just want to control people. Too few writers give real time to the problen that is causing America to go down the tubes. You did and I applaude you. There is a place for fucking others where the wife gets several big satisfying cocks with her husband. Too many cuckold /humiliation writers get published by moderators that want to jerk off to these stories and never find enough hmiliation to satisfy them. I am fed up with the big cunted, dripping wet cows in the stories and with the lille pricked wet dripping cocks of the so called men that want someone else to do thier job for them and make them suck cock while the studs fucking thier wives heap abuse on them. I do not want abuse. You things that do should all shoot your self and make the world a better place. It would sure make England a better place where all you creeps come from. So keep on writing like you do. If you write about couples that want threesomes with a stud them please make sure that it isn't a humiliation story. If the husband even wants to suck a cock with his wife them make it mutual. If you look at it then it's still a couple doing things together. thanks for your real story

Probably the closest reasons to why couples fall out of love..

Such a change to see a couple then rebound to get back to it..rather than take the oh so easy way out..

Finding the love again...hooray!

What a compassionate and loving story of love rekindled. And, with enough spice to consider it sexy, too.

Thanks for the honesty about the sadly all-too-prevalent drama of love gone astray, and the willingness and trust it takes to restore the love.

Selfish wife

He wasn't attending Dodger games. He was spending time with their SONS. Something she could have been doing, if she wasn't busy holding pity parties. You need to work on your female characters. EVERY story you ever written had a selfish wife. To me, you never explain why the husbands (or any men) would want them back.

AnonymousAnonymousover 14 years ago
Boring

This was technically well written, so I didn't give it a 0% rating, but I certainly didn't enjoy reading it. Okay, so a rather wimpy man lets his workaholic wife treat him like crap for years, because he is willing to accept being a peewee basketball (or whatever) coach in lieu of having a loving wife and an active sex life. Finally, he grows some balls and tells his bitch of a wife that if she doesn't take 7 whole days off from work and go on vacation with him that it may be the end of this wonderful marriage. They wind up having boring sex with each other and stay married. Big deal. I'm not sure why you posted this. Maybe you should have saved this until they create a catagory called "boring stories where nothing happens".

Good & Bad

I really enjoyed the characters; they had multiple layers and were well-developed. But the story was not very compelling. I struggled to reach the conclusion, which by that point was forgone. Not really enough conflict here to merit a story.

Great Tale.

Does seem that the two waited so many years for this renewal of their commitment to one another. But I know from experience that careers and family obligations can erode the love connection. 'Life gets in the way of living'. Well written story. Dan

Almost perfect

Only thing I can imagine adding some much-needed spice to this tale would be a little more meat on the bones of her having 'a little extra!' Maybe a handsome divorced neighbor who traded flirts with her before moving away six months ago! Hubby would never know if she did, or did not!

Nonetheless, it is a clear 5*

Thanks for writing. Just wondering about the category though. Wouldn't it be better in Romance than LW?

phil2213phil2213over 10 years ago
This is very real for me; outstanding story expertly presented.

Sometimes you have to take the bull by the horns and redirect your life. A marriage is a series of conflicts and struggles with careers, children, commitments and outside pressures abound. It is easy to drift, when you over commit yourself with career job and outside interests. The married couple needs to struggle to keep a focus on eachother. This story really nails it.

It's actually nice to read a story without any cheating and a couple that had the potential to cheat work to get back together. I think that most married couples have gone through something like this at one time or another. Marriage is a lot of work and we all get lazy at times. A very enjoyable read. Thank You!

Probably the most realistic I've ever read here. Shows a couple in turmoil and what they did to resolve the issue. Could have been in Romance, but either category it's a great tale.

I rank it right up there with DreamCloud's Romance stories. As for Faggot, well...

Pappy7Pappy7almost 9 years ago
I liked it.

I don't think that a spouse should have to fight someone outside their marriage to keep their mate exclusive to them, but the way we all live our lives I think that, as shown here, we need to fight the outside distractions that we all bring to our marriages. Jobs, kids and hobbies. Our children need us to be part of their lives, they need us to put them ahead of ourselves and our spouse to a certain extent, but we need to remember that we chose the spouse for specific reasons and we always need to put them first in our hearts. This story brought all of these things out for us and it tickled me to see actual loving partners putting each other into their proper places again. Well written and well presented. I gave it 5 stars because there aren't 6.

Salamis recommended this one in his comment about Slirpuff's "Big Mouth" story. I had a similar experience with my wife - we were drifting apart and I surprised her with a trip to Kauaii. We did reconnect. Great story.

Beautiful Story!

This is a beautiful story about a couple realizing that they are falling apart in their marriage and it is in danger of ending. Yet, they make a commitment to try and save their marriage and reconnect with each other before it is too late... and it works!!!

If only more couples would read this and take the steps these two took to save their marriage. I wish my wife would have taken these steps, instead of waiting until she decided that we were through to let me know that she was no longer in love with me and totally unwilling to seek counseling to do any work at all to save our marriage.

Ends with we were back in love, but did it last?.I get the impression she put the job first, not the family and she moaned about the time he spent with their kids.If she spent less time at work then she would have had more time for family life.Personaly,I think after six or seven months she will slip back into her old habits.

Don't agree with the yelling anonymous below. James did the right thing, namely to save his marriage. Apparently there wasn't any foulplay, so why not try at least to explore if the marriage can be saved?

Apart from that, the story was well written, the characters were next door believable. 5* from this old man

Really enjoyed this story. Amazing what a little communication can accomplish.

A little tension would have helped the story. Nature and relationships both adhor a vaccum. Neither partner needed to have an affair but maybe a preaffair attraction would have added to the desire and need to reconnect.

But that is my story, yours was a terrific story as told

Nice to read about a couple that recognizes that their marriage is in trouble and, instead of seeking someone outside the marriage, recommit themselves to each other. Although I read and really enjoy the LW category, it's nice to read a story that isn't about infidelity, despair, revenge, and divorce.
