I smiled and said, "Mrs. Pellegrino..."

"Anna. You are old enough now to call me Anna." She lightly stroked the side of my face as she spoke.

I smiled even wider and said, "Anna, I think I can go in now. Will you please escort me?"

She turned toward the door and put her hand through my arm and we walked arm in arm the few feet that seemed impossible to navigate just a few minutes ago. Once inside a man approached and told Anna they were ready to start.

Anna turned to me and kissed me on the cheek. "Please stay afterwards. I want to talk some more and I want you to meet Josh. He's a good kid. I think you'll really like him."

She smiled and pointed to the visitor's book as she quietly melted into the crowd.

I signed the book and took a seat near one of the exit doors. The lady next to me handed me a box of tissues and I helped myself to six or seven before setting it down. I took them just in case. After a few minutes everyone sat down and a young man approached the podium.

He said, "Ladies and gentlemen, thank you all for coming. We are here today to celebrate the life of Portus Emanuel Pellegrino. We all know about his death, how he suffered and died from that plague of modern times, AIDS, but what we want to celebrate today is how he lived, not how he died. He was the friendliest and most genuinely giving man I've ever met. He was real. He was kind. And he was down to earth. He was so down to earth that nobody knew him as Portus. We all knew him as Manny. Manny would give anybody anything..."

That's when I lost it. I grabbed the handful of tissues and put them to my face and cried.

unduly complicated. I guess Manny was the originator of the Aids outbreak and then he gave it to Jenni and thus to 411 others. How did Manny get Aids?

I don't know why writers post stories in this category--the comments are sooooo harsh. These are amateur writrrs doing this for free for gods sake! Suspend your disbelief and try to enjoy someone else's efforts!

I agree with the anon from 13 days ago - There's no point in pulling a caper / reversal if at the end you don't explicitly make it either a) complicated enough to be enjoyable and b) reveal it to the readers. I mean, we all guess what happened - but a lot was left unsaid. Did he infect Jenni via Portus somehow indirectly and without her knowledge (murder) or was she an accomplice? How was it done? Was there anything else that was done?

I'll give you a pass for the cartoonish villains and the bizzare setup and even Jenni's obvious insane behavior because it's a STORY, but I was hoping for a bit... more here? You just missed the mark. I wanted something either more clever, or more violent and outrageous and we wanted a front row seat. You know what I mean?

So, I could get believe her becoming the company whore, but you took it to cartoonish levels.

The sheer amount and volume are just so unbelievable that they destroy the immersion. Then you've got the husband acting all hard and suddenly he's as meek as a lamb. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed his solution, but the fact that you never had him reveal that their suffering was his doing takes away a lot of the fun. It's all about the revelation that he turned the tables on them. Unfortunately, that never came in this story. It's one of the reasons so many stories in this category suck. The writers don't have a basic grasp of drama. It's all about getting from point A to point B in the shortest time possible with the writers in this section.

You could gave gotten from beginning to end without that level of depravity by the wife, really? Weekly 20 person gangbangs? Everyone having Rhino schlongs? Really? Her boss being a James bond villain esque predator? Really? But I get that its artistic license, it just detracts from the plot. The one gaping hole that I spot (other than Jenni AYOOO) is that with all that whoring and sharing... How were they not getting her blood checked weekly? talk about Russian Roulet.

AnonymousAnonymous3 months ago

Yup.

Perfect way to end a conniving wife (she was only a victim the first time) and a bunch of scheming blackmailers.

How else could he have protected his daughter, the ONLY innocent person in this entire story?

AnonymousAnonymous3 months ago

Silly premise. Nobody in their right minds would set up a female employee like than, and then create an illegal scheme with her in it. Anyone in a corporate culture knows this would stay secret for a nanosecond, or less. She could wait until she'd been sexually assaulted (induced via blackmail or threat is sexual assault) and then go to the police. Anyone who reads this will lose anywhere from two percent to five percent of their I.Q. It belongs in Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Or in the Microsoft Recycle Bin.

I didn't read any revenge caused by the husband. Didn't see his nuclear response. Her death, Butchers death, it all went down from there.

FUCK that, she was a lying pig, husband was a pussy and the blackmail guy was a bully, I HATE BULLIES, I used to call mine DAD. I tagged him back, you can bet on that. lol

Nuclear response indeed!

Butcher got off way to easily.

Rest of Thompson employees got off way too easily.

Jenni got fucked by everyone (literally) and deserved better.

MC achieved revenge but not sure he really got satisfaction. His lawyer also screwed him in the settlements.

His wife is in an impossible situation, blackmailed, and raped. Does he set out to help her? No, he only wants revenge He wanted it so badly that he murdered his wife, who was more a victim than he was. Your writing is spot on, but your story is cruel for no good reason. I wonder if you actually hate women.

Traveling 20 years in the military for inspections and contract performance and then 20 years in aerospace doing the same sort of thing causes the following comment. If my wife was going on a business trip and said she was going to be coming home late Sunday or early Monday I would have told her to not bother coming back. Not in forty years does one go out for less than a two week trip and is gone over the weekend.

Just a bad story about a wimp that had a handy cap of stupidity...He just did and went about everything the wrong way without really thinking out any of his actions before trying to implement them. Plain bad story because no one can be as dumb as you presented him.... It's very hard to bare fools...2 stars..JZK...
