The Larry Niven ringworld is unstable. As the ring, a ridge structure does not orbit a star. Therefore will either hit the star (most likely) or drift off into space. This is acknowledged in his work Ringworld Engineers. This is why I referred to the Banks orbitals.
I am predicting that the protagonist will end up running afoul of the laws on this Ringworld and either he or his slaves will be captured due to some technical triviality in their law that will have disproportionate punishment.
The story was turning out so good (despite grammatical and editorial errors) but with the addition of this chapter I am hoping it doesn't take a turn towards the cliché.
