This story falls short on all emotions - Hate, Love, Remorse, Revenge... everything. Too flat for Loving Wives category. I am sorry, however, this is how we LW fans are...

People change, we do stupid things and sometimes we hurt the people we love. You either wallow in misery or forgive and let go of the pain and he chose to forgive. Good for him, hopefully it works out.

The story hits all the right notes;

1. Hubby discovers evidence.

2. Hubby confirms evidence.

3. Hubby prepares confrontation.

4 Wife confesses everthing;

a. It was only sex!

b. I don't love him, only you.

5. Hubby pounds lover after a polite discovery session.

6. Hubby puts on a show of grief.

7. Hubby allows himself to be persuaded to talk.

8. All is well

Yes, it seems just like an outline was followed.

<p>I just couldn't. Mean it's really easy in a story to make you hate a character. I mean heck, I bet we all know someone "personally" who was cheated on, or in some cases, did the cheating. So identifying with those emotions are easy.</p>

<p>But the wife's character basically did the "well if I confess first everything will work out" ploy. I just didn't see it. I mean this, like it was stated in the story, was a planned affair. But the characters used a lot of rationalizations like "I didn't do anything I don't do for you" or "He wasn't better just different" and the popular "My friends did it and I just had to give it a try". The character did nothing to warrant, at least to me, a second chance. Not because I wanted her thrown out with the bath water, but because her reasons for doing it were selfish, and I never really got the warm and fuzzies that she understood why this was a bad idea. Other than the "You'll just have to trust me I've learned my lesson" paraphrase she used.</p>

<p>I'm sorry, I felt the dislike from the cheating, but did not feel a similar emotion to understand, of even feel, the husband should forgive her. Other than the feeling he did it to keep her from being with Paul only</p>

Simplistic, yet ultimately satisfying. The confession without knowing that Tom was aware of her adultery helped me give her a few points toward the reconciliation, but only just. The real betrayal was cutting him off because, as she said, she would have to face what she was doing and she didn't want to stop. This would probably have been a deal breaker for me. Even in real life, just like here, women will go through every twist and turn of lying imaginable TO their BF/HUBBIE to creat a situation of cheating, however, they would never, ever think of anything but telling the truth ABOUT how great it was with the other guy: "We took our time enjoying each other. Yes, I concentrated on pleasing both of us. We started out with him on top. We did hold and kiss some while we fucked. Then I moved on top, until I got tired. We finished with him fucking me from behind. We lasted 15-20 minutes and I did have another orgasm." In vivid detail, blow by blow literally, every orgasm and thrill. What a "brilliant" concept... the only problem: try it and you'll find yourself on your ass out of your marriage and your wordly assets...<P>

In fact, it was three times, plus multiple lying (if by omission), not to mention a good deal of cool calculations and planning by the cheating wife and of course the remarkable ability to cut her husband off both physically and emotionally: put together and you find an efficient predatory barracuda which knows her game and does it well. Hey, those are skills she could use for other purposes too! And if not for any other purpose, she presents with some very ominous signs of being a very troubled character. <P>

Taking this "lemon" back into one’s bed based on: ‘Sorry, it won't happen again -at least I confessed about it (once I finished my affair of course)’, makes the same sense as a thief expecting credit for apologizing to his victim once he safely deposited away the stolen goods and promising to never do it again… Here is a news flash- you don't deserve any medals or a bonus for not lying about stepping over other people… <P>

Sorry but this was a disappointing story and way below some of your other stories. The dialogue was flat and robotic as much as the plot felt scripted and predictable. But what bothered me most was that I could not understand the logic for their reconciliation it was just a collection of clichés with no effort to integrate it and make sense of it. Every line from the book of clichés the wife feeds him he buys and moves to the next predictable question and so on…<P>

All you could learn from it is that if you fuck on your marriage, but succeed to come clean just before the cheated spouse confronts you, then if you say you are really sorry and you have no clue why you did it and of course: trust me it will never happen again, then you got yourself a nice - free on the house, outside of the marriage affair On this kind of "wisdom" they say: “Don't ever try that at home”...

The author is a pretty good writer and the story flowed smoothly. But the plot is a problem for me. Tom exhibits passive-aggressive characteristics. Like his wife, he lies when it suits him. He conceals his knowledge regarding his wife's affair (a normal thing to do, but still, a concealment). He tells Paul he is not visiting the hotel room to have a fight, he just wants to talk. Then, in a surprise attack, he beats Paul up. Paul in truth deserved it, but the sneaky way Tom did this does nothing for his character. And speaking of character, it is really not developed in this story! We don't know anything about his likes, dislikes (other than a cheating spouse!), hobbies, or his work. We don't really know what he looks like, just that his penis is larger than Paul's. And Tom's questions were mostly about the details of the fucking that Lisa did with Paul, and only peripherally about her emotional feelings towards Paul (which was clearly the more important part of her betrayal). Tom chose to follow his wife himself, and he made use of his mother-in-law for his marital therapy. Please give us a break. Super sleuth Tom can do this better than a private investigator? The marriage is broken but the couple does not need any counseling? I guess a seriously ill person does not need to see a doctor either. And Lisa, selfish slut that she is, decides she needs to try out some strange with someone for whom she has obvious feelings, but she does not love him? I must agree with other readers, her confession and pleas for forgiveness, and yes, her excuses, contain every cliche for what she did. I think the worst part of the betrayal was her six year friendship with Paul, a friendship and comraderie she shared with him and obviously not her husband. Tom was absolutely right to complain about that one. And when Lisa tried to reverse it (don't you talk to your friends at work?) he responded that he did not fuck those friends. I think the more important aspect of that would be that he did not establish a long-term, platonic but emotional attachment to someone of the opposite gender, someone to whom he could confide his feelings and various aspects of his marital relationship. One other thing, in real life, Paul would file assault charges and I think Tom would find that his brief satisfaction at kicking Paul's ass would cost him big-time.

Well written, and despite what the extremists say, this story was very realistic. Lots of spouses cheat and the other party gets over it, sometime I suspect making the marriage even stronger. Why you may ask. Because one would expect the weaker willed and less comitted partner to wander, and having seen what heartbreak it could cause, and seen that their partnr has stood by them, then they might well appreciate much better what they have and learn to cherish it more.

Doesn't always work out like that of course, but I'm glad that it did this time.

It is our story and you can choose to have it end any way you want. But after seeing the characters developed as you did them, I see the wife's character fitting the mold "once a cheater, always a cheater". I don't care if a marriage with a cheating spouse makes up and rejoins, or if they forever split, as long as the story line supports the outcome. In this case, it appears the character of this wife, as the author played it out, was bound to stray again and the husband really did not analyze the situation thoroughly enough to realize that fact.

The story was well written and it fitted with the 'loving wife' section perfectly. I suppose the only difference is the fact that the husband didn't want to watch her have sex with someone else and apart from the three times with lover boy, I don't REALLY think she is an out and out slut, stupid, misguided, not in touch with reality but a total slut? not sure. Would I forgive her? Not a chance. Divorce would be the only way through this. Would I still talk to her? Yes I probably would, hell I would probably still make love to her when we met. But as a symbol I would divorce her and NEVER get married to her again. The one thing about this story that is not the normal type of story is the fact that the wife didn't use any excuses for what she did. She laid it out and told the husband how she felt. I would however slap the mother-in-law what happened between the couple ahd nothing to do with her! And I certainly would not talk to the lover. The first time I saw him he would be flat on his back with a size ten boot print on his face.

But overall the story was okay, i just can't believe how stupid the wife was. But then you get that in real life both men and women do stupid things all the time, like throwing away a marriage.

You never will know what you would do until you been there - I know as I have been there and back on both sides of the nasty. Come to think of it I really did not marry anybody that I really loved because I did not want to hurt them or the other way around. Oh well it was a good story and I enjoyed it - that is what matters and if you read it all, then you liked it and all you that said you did not got some thinking to do.! Good story, and something much closer to "real life" than what usually gets portrayed in fiction, in any venue. And yes, sometimes people do get back together and stay married. Often, they don't. This is a success story.

She intentionally sneaks off to teh man's hotel room weekly for sex and carries her own sex supplies with her in the car including a nightgown the husband bought her for valentines that she had never worn for him. She is providing her lover bareback oral sex. Why the KY was she doing anal? If she was using it vaginal the condoms were of no use whatever. Where is the medical testing for her the wife. No where is it addressed and she had oral if not vaginal and anal sex bareback with him. Testing is required, she only has her lovers word he has had no other partners, and we already knows he lies and cheats, even if just with this one married woman. Actually it appears the only reason she broke up with the lover is because her husband wanted to take her out to dinner and she refused so she could be with her lover and she felt guilty. The fact they stayed together was interesting and I can see it happening. It is not always clear that they would break up, but I am not sure the hurt and pain was shown as real as it would be. Overall I liked the story.

This seems to be a recollection of someone's painful experiences rather than a fictional story, which isn't meant as a slam. Events like these do occur in longtime, stable marriages. Hard choices after mistakes are made and a resolution both logical and believable. Well-written, with good pacing.

I thought this was a great story with a realistic ending.

He discovers that she's been having a month long affair, she's cut him off from sex, while gladly giving it up to her lover; now she confesses, says "ooops, sorry" So after 3 months, he buys her a new negligee, & takes her back! Now, I can't decide which is worse, him being a wimpy cuck, or her getting away w/ being a cheating slut whore. K.K.'s comments notwithstanding, this is not believable, fiction or not. Like another commentator says, "once a cheat, always a cheat". And how exactly do you ever get the trust back, & more to the point, why would you want to? I'm not sure which way to go here. I dont believe that once a cheater always a cheater, although that is probably true in more cases than not. But she has proven that she has no problem lying and disrespecting him. With this knowledge he will replay all the years they have been married and right or wrong he will discover dozens of times that she may have been unfaithful. They may well remain married for the rest of their lives, however it will never be the same loving relationship that it was before (she was caught)

Nice realistic reconciliation story. It must happen about ten thousand times per year and perhaps about fifty thousand

times per year there is no going back. I personally would have bailed out irevocably when it became clear that she turned me off physically and emotionally, in order to have sex with her lover. On the other hand he knows how to tell if she is cheating again.... In a way it is a very upfront situation both of them see that there are no guarantees for the future.

Most of the comments have already expressed the good/bad & ugly of this author's effort. As on person indicated, "Ohio's-Blue Minivan" story had a more realistic ending then this story did. "Opps, she sorry" reconciliation endings really suck and are only plausible in the wimp husband plot lines, but then you have to like those kind of stories to begin with, in order to enjoy the typical wimp / slut wife offerings. It's not a bad story per se but the are some problems with it. The lack of development in TOM's character is a real problem and on this point I strongly agree with Vulcan from Ohio. Without that development of character it kind of makes Tom's questions about whether not Paul was better in bed seem less realistic.

In the end I am NOT totally against any reconciliation but this marriage has serious empty nest issues to resolve and they need to be in serious therapy.

The author has talent. He writes readable prose. The story hangs together and gets from beginning to end. The story never "grabbed" me as others in this category can do. I think the problem is I don't know anyones motivation. She was bored and he loved her is pretty bare bones. I really didn't "feel" anything for either character. His motivation for forgiveness absolutely escapes me. He "loved" her is not enough, at least in my book. Please keep writing and bring us a story we feel and can understand the characters.

Lisa's whole story seemed too pat. She has an affair with a guy who is only in town for six weeks. Someone she had had a secret relationship for years. Either her lover was close enough to her that Tom should have been introduced to him or it was a casual relationship which implies that it was not just something that happened. She cut off Tom sexually because it would have been too painful for her. She confessed because she could not live with it. She had the affair because it was her fantasy. After she confesses she leaves and put all of the pressure on Tom whether the marriage continues or not (by leaving she does not have to put up with Tom's anger allowing him a chance to accept the status quo). She gave him responses regarding the sex with her lover that Tom could not object to (i.e., no sloppy seconds, different acts that she did not do with him). Is it possible she realized that Tom might have discovered her bag with the condoms etc? Perhaps she aborted her afair two weeks early because she felt that Tom knew? She said that she had to confess before he confronted her. Lisa could write a book on how to have a short affair and get away with it. In the end, Lisa gets to live her fantasy and Tom is happy to get her back! What a sad little tale.

I agree with Sleepless and Harry that the story was just to pat..Her cheating started years ago when She comforted Paul after He found out his Wife cheated on him..That is when the emotional affair started..She never introduced him to her husband,why not???? If the answer is yes, then everything that happened after that is called into question. If the answer is no, then I have no problem with the confession, the flow of events thereafter, the reconciliation.</p>

I would love to had had a woman like her! One that could have explored her sexuality and though enjoying it, wanted only her man! This is a "Real" life story and had a happy ending. The timing of Lisa's confession is too convenient. I figure she gets to the hotel, opens the compartment in the van to get the bag and goes, "Oh, shit" when she sees the bag has been moved or the contents disturbed because hubby didn't put things back the way she had left them.

Her only option at that point is to tell her lover it is over, go home early and confess before being confronted.

I found this to be a interesting story with alot of emotions between the married couple. It was well written with and really held your attention. Thought it was a nice touch for them to start dating to see if there was anything there to salvage. Thanks for sharing this tale with us.

Your characters seem going through the motions. You hit the buttons of a reconciliation story but without conveying any of the emotion of the actions. I would say the same thing if he had tossed her to the curb. You've got to find a way to get into the hearts of your characters and to share that with us.

I'm afraid that I didn't get the feeling that the wife or her lover were sorry for their actions. Also the husband was still too trusting of his wife because I got the feeling that they had cheated before. He should have used the opportunity to improve his life and dump the bitch.

for someone that calls themselves brain_dead. A good story of mistakes and forgiveness, and I believe the story shows a woman that sincerely is sorry for her betrayal. This is how I saw it, but this is fiction and I am painfully aware of how reality actually is. R.T.
