What changed James? You gave us no hint that he would become an entirely different person--and one neither your readers nor Kang-Lee would like.

Kang - Lee should have stopped James that afternoon. If not then she should have dressed in other clothes and walked out of the reception. With the applause she should have walked over and slapped James hard telling him and every one else how bad he had been and how much he hurt her. Then left. Divorce might take longer but it was possible. Still is but now she is in the wrong.
