When I look back on that day I can hardly credit that I got through it at all. But I did, and furthermore, I enjoyed it immensely. And, not wishing in any way to belittle the charms of Cathy, Sandy, Divine, Chloe and Consuela, the whole event was leant a highly roseate hue by the delectable presence of the regal Diana. I of course went in search of her as soon as circumstances permitted, but she was ‘changing’ and anyway the models were not allowed to fraternize with ‘the meat’, at least not at audition time. I had the distinct impression also that Angel had spotted my infatuation with Diana and was more inclined to snuff this off at the outset rather than to let it flower. So I quickly reconciled myself to the overwhelming likelihood that I had seen Diana for the last time (except possibly on the screen!), consigned her to one of the most pleasant memories of my life, and tried to get some sleep. For tomorrow was another day!
