What kind of man are you
Unable to cry
Except behind a stern countenance
Wasted on her
Cold and blue-eyed?

Unable to love the women who love you
Caught in the panic of a thought
Freckle-shouldered
An unwitting goddess
With flaxen hair tied in knots

How is this different
Than when you lay bolted to the bed
Mesh-masked and irradiated
Automaton
Breathing but dead?

Would you let her warm herself
Prone against your blistering skin
Brittle-boned limping
Aching
Until you recover again?
