Humor Is An Antidote?
© 2021 CeVin_ChienElle
We walked to your place but
the door was still locked
and we looked for your face but
the window was still empty
She squeezed my shoulder hard
I found her ribs, gave them a poke
and she jumped, we shed some tears
and we told each other jokes
until we could walk away from that yard
'Cause humor is an antidote for feeling too much
Humor is a way to kill the pain
Humor is a substitute for feeling someone's touch
Who can tell if you're laughing
or cryin' in the rain?
Some vodka can be funny but
it won't bear the load
you found ways to make it sunny but
the pills only took you so far
We couldn't make it real
and her ribs could only sigh
so she turned, we shed some tears
then we made our goodbye
walked away from where we needed to kneel
'Cause humor is no antidote for feeling too much
And humor doesn't work to kill the pain
But humor is a substitute for feeling someone's touch
Who can tell if you're laughing
or cryin' in the rain?
I agree
a smile is not a dress
to put on sadness
when your partner for dance
is caught in trance
disturbingly
