It's the color of stillness during a sleepless night.
It's the tint of tears after the millionth fight.

The complexion of gold from your wedding ring.
The smudge of mascara when he says you don't mean a thing.

It's the pigment of despair as you lie on the floor.
It's the tinge of hope when you know you deserve more.

The shade of resiliency with each passing day.
The hue of courage as you make a plan to finally walk away.

“What color is the moon?” he implores of me. I reply, “This is what I see. “

This poem evokes such strong feeling, such deep emotion and such heart-wrenching empathy that describing those evocations is impossible with mere words. It genuinely moved me, beyond belief! This lady can write!
