How much time has passed since the story started? Reading it in chapters makes it seem as though many months have gone by in the story.

As for how much time has passed... I haven't been keeping exact track, to be honest. I would estimate about a month and a half total, counting from the time Ashyr joined the Troupe. But I do know what you mean; it seems like months. In reality, it's approximately a day per chapter with a few exceptions (like the time-skips in the beginning that amounted to about two weeks.)
