He knew Rose was less than happy in her relationship too. Her spouse, being older, and having a lot less motivation than she did, and not sharing any of her passions. It was as if Steve and Rose were two halves of the same person and their spouses were mirrors of each other as well.
He squeezed Rose a bit tighter for a second, making a silent promise that he would always be there for her too. He then released his hold around her, so they could redress and get to fishing.

Hindsight2020, I am thinking that one of the spouses descriptions fit you...and that maybe you have never had to sacrifice anything in your relationship....Maybe instead of being a hater, you should give positive criticism, like a suggestion to make my characters less "unlikable."
