Thanks for taking the time to read my writing. I don’t want to argue grammar, but if a person is reclining, the proper verb is “lie.” If one is placing or putting an object down, the verb is “lay.” “Lay” is a transitive verb, requiring an object to be acted upon. Yes, “lie” can also mean to fib, but it is also the intransitive verb that describes an object or person’s position. But again, thanks for taking the time to read my work.
