Looking forward to where this story goes. Your understanding of the South, the Lost Cause, and the War of Northern Aggression sounds right. I grew up in Oklahoma with pro-Confederacy and pro-Union cousins and relatives.

I know there will be complaints about it being short. However, this IS clearly marked as the 1st chapter, and this is a logical place for a chapter break.

I don't remember reading another story that started out with a twist like this. So many ways to go with this one.

Okay, while you could reasonably end it here with the reveal, you have got to keep going with it. I hate one-page wonders, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and give you a higher score for now. 4/5
