Well, what I think is that Mandy is programming Shirl to to anything and be willing to be with anyone. Brining Shirl out of her shell is only puts the public face on what she is doing, which is turning Shril into a virtual slave to her. Budd will not even be able to express his doubts to Shirl, because Shirl will report all to her master, Mandy. Run!, Bud and Shirl! Run as fast as you can!
