Organizations that collect magic and power fall into the same decay that every other organization falls into. Political rivalries and infighting become far more deadly. Cyrus and his old partner were headed for such a confrontation. Splinter factions form and fight for power and items. Members are killed. Knowledge is lost. Even the Catholic Church has rivals and has lost much of its power. Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. But you create an organization immune to that rule for no other reason that your story needs an enemy.

It's a trap. Don't fall for it.

On the plus side - good scene with Lily and Dana. I am not sure that just the two of them are going to be enough to keep this side line interesting.

I'd like to see more done with Tick Tock. He appears to be a sentient being (and needs to eat?) but you are treating him as just an appliance.
