I think one of the most important things of a story is the growth of the main char and you're doing a great job here.

I love this story - the whole setting reminds me of a mix between "Clan of the Cave Bear" series by Jean Auel (Neesha reminds me of Ayla) and David Eddings' Belgarian/Mellorian series. Great job!
