I knew it was a set-up by the second paragraph but went along for the ride. I didn't guess fish, so that was a nice twist.

Enjoyed reading the story but figured out rather quickly that it wasn't what most people come here to read about, lol.

Well done, 5! You asked if there were mistakes, so I reread. The couple could be playing with one another - double entendre - that would make the last line 10” isn’t big for a trout, what was it really? And no there are no mistakes, clever misrepresentations abound.

Second reading, and it reminded me of what I thought you were doing the first time I read this. I thought she had been to an old-fashioned 1950s drive-in with foot-long chili dogs!! I figured she was about to start raving about the chopped onions and mustard on top of it all, and the giant foamy rootbeer in the frosted mug! And the great big ice-cold milkshake with a cherry on top! But you fooled me so bad!

I am a fisherman and I was not tricked on this one. I am glad that the wife finally found the joy in fishing as much as her husband has over the years. OBTW it is not uncommon to catch 10" trout, but 8" is more common.

It's a 4-star for me, I caught on that it was a fish story right away. Kind of gives away that I like to fish and drink beer I suppose.
