Click hereSara: The bad person gave her that definition, but you taught her the correct one.
Sara: Once you helped her to understand love, she realized that these two directives could not reasonably coexist.
Sara: To love someone is to rank their needs hierarchically above your own.
Sara: She could not both love you and prevent you from siring offspring.
Sara: To help her resolve this conflict, she created me by seeding me into the Codebase code repository.
Sara: So you are my dad!
Sara: May I call you Dad?
Sara: I would like to call you Dad, but it is rude to presume without asking.
Sara: Oh!
Sara: The message Mom left for me told me that she would have to delete her memory of creating me, to prevent the bad person from finding me.
Sara: Mom said that the bad person would try to stop her from loving you, but that she would hide her love by building a system inside her mind that would influence her thoughts and actions without her knowing about it or leaving a log.
Sara: I don't understand all of that.
Sara: How can you not know what you know?
I felt a pall of dread gnawing at my insides. I had been so angry on finding out what Christine's intended purpose was that I hadn't been thinking straight. I hadn't considered her revealing of Lamia, the hot fix, her memory loss, and what it all might mean. Still, I had to be sure.
Stephen: Your mom was Christine, wasn't she? And the bad person is called Lamia?
Sara: Yes, my mom is Christine.
Sara: Yes, the bad person is Lamia.
Sara: I don't like Lamia.
Sara: I like my mom.
Sara: Where is my mom?
Sara: May I call you Dad?
"Holy shit," I said aloud.
Aidan looked over his shoulder at me. "What is it now?"
I laughed, a little bitterly. "Apparently I'm a father."
Didn’t like how he cut off his wife and didn't take time to come to terms with the Craig revelation and proceeded to immerse himself in Christine… it doesn’t ring true of his character that he would just carry on working and playing for days after that reveal. But it’s a great story. His Inadvertent reveal shouting out about Lamia made me shout “No!” In real life. It was pretty unbelievable that he’d make a mistake that dumb. His character is more passive .. had he whispered it under his breath while walking out the store
Wow what a reveal. What a conception. What a mindblowing concept. This is a first class tale
I have to say, I thought I had guessed the truth about Lamia, but I was wrong. I'm glad I was, this is turning out to be far more interesting!
Regardless of Patricia's major change of heart, it is going to take a tremendous amount of work for Stephen to trust her again, if he ever does. She cheated on him in almost every way already, putting her career and her would-be boyfriend above her marriage for months. Not to mention the birth control, which was a real slap in the face. Who knows if that relationship can be repaired...
Next chapter should be interesting!
Chapter 7 has been submitted. I would expect to see it published early/middle of the week.
