The tears welled in his eyes at the pain of the real world outside, and the pain of the loss he had expected to feel when she saw his wounds, flooded from him. He knew now that their relationship had not changed unless perhaps it had become even deeper than before. Then she left him to allow his dreams to cleanse him.
