I’ve read other comments some quite harsh but the first thing that struck me (no pun intended) about this story was the actual nature of a female sub. I can’t comment on a male sub’s thought processes because I’m not male but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was similar.

So often female subs have low self esteem, it’s really a very common thing for women in general. Whilst a sub who has a good Dom will trust him/her with their needs and desires, I believe it’s common for a sub to worry about letting their Dom down. As such they may try to avoid using their safe word.

Sometimes it’s a good idea for both parties to actually know that the sub will actually call a halt and use their safe word when they’ve had enough. Of course a limit might change from one day to another. It might not be necessary at all for some D/s couples to test their limits in this manner, some might never need to use a safe word I believe that every D/s couple should have a safe word, possibly more than one. Provided they are honoured AND all parties are freely able to give consent then whatever happens is nobody’s business but their own.
