You've no idea how many of these stories I've seen where such & such finds out about X having the affair & they separate, only for them to ultimately get back together (which I'm frankly sick of). A pretty realistic story, you have attained what few have done in this genre (You have written a good story). I could see the care you took in the development of the story and that makes a real difference, whether or not the husband and wife reconcile is of no real importance but you have written the story so that either could be a realistic option(Which is another thing few have accomplished).

Very realistic and compelling story, BD. Harry's correct - when a woman is 100% wrong, she will <b>attack</b>, just as Alice repeatedly did when her lies no longer worked. As one of the anons commented, it is great to have a non-wimp, non-cream-pie-eating husband who acts like a normal man.

Harry despite getting confused a bit gives a very good analysis of the the story. To put it bluntly the wife is a total idiot. The twit she is fucking with isnt much sharper. The husband is portrayed as a man not a boy which is very unusual here in Lit. I see only one real problem with the husbands character, he continues to talk to the piece of trash he was married to. Most companies in reality would have fired both the wife and Eric especially if the husband had complained. A well thought out piece on how a wife finds great sex outside of marriage is no substitute for love, respect and companionship with her spouse. I liked that the author told the story from the wife's point of view rather than the husband's thereby avoiding the usual filler concerning detectives, credit card cancellations, changing beneficiaries on wills, emptying bank accounts and so on. I'm looking forward to other stories by brain_damage.

Characters are well developed and gradual disintegration of her moral values is very realistically described , Even her collapse when she finds out her husband is aware of her cheating is nicely done. Very few mistakes in this story and it flowed smoothly to the end. I think you write well and I look forward to more of your storied. Rob's assault on Eric felt nice and satisfied my urge for him to get revenge, but despite Eric's reluctance to go to the police, I think it likely the police would have found out and Rob would be charged with assault. How? Well, with Eric's injuries he would have needed medical attention and an ER would ask some questions, like "Who beat you up?" Of course, Eric could say he does not know, but care for his injuries is expensive and guess what, his insurance might not pay unless there is a police report (as with a car accident). And really, if Rob is so pissed, I can't fathom why he never filed for divorce against Alice during the 6 months. He should move on.

A very well written tale about infidelity and it's consequences in a LOVING relationship of 28 years....Rob vented his anger on Eric, physically and through loss of marriage, and has given his wife the cold shoulder for 6 months....so much harder to vent on her after 28 years and 2 kids....I agree that now that his hostility has evaporated, perhaps therapy is needed as a foundation for the rebuilding of trust....which will take a whole lot longer. Probably mirrored some people's lives. I once met a wonderful woman at a training seminar. All that happened at that time was going, with 10-12 others, to a well-lit bar with dancing. I liked reading this story, it is a good one. Never-the-less I would like as other readers would, if you were to write a second part of this one to let the readers know what happened. Things like whether or not they did get back together or not, and if not did she and Eric get together as two cheaters. and if they were faithful to each other or if they cheated on each other.
